Instrumentation Technician (Entry-Level)

Job Summary:

The Entry-Level Instrumentation Technician assists in the installation, calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of instruments and control systems used in industrial processes. This role supports senior technicians and engineers to ensure accurate and reliable operation of process instrumentation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the installation, wiring, and commissioning of instrumentation devices such as sensors, transmitters, flow meters, pressure gauges, and control valves.
  • Calibrate and test instruments to ensure accuracy and compliance with industry standards.
  • Perform routine maintenance and preventive checks on instrumentation equipment.
  • Troubleshoot basic issues in instrumentation and report complex problems to senior technicians or engineers.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance, calibration, and service activities.
  • Ensure all safety protocols and standard operating procedures (SOPs) are followed.
  • Support project teams in instrumentation-related tasks and site activities.
  • Learn to read and interpret instrumentation diagrams (P&ID), schematics, and technical manuals.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Diploma, Associate degree, or equivalent in Instrumentation, Electrical/Electronics, or Automation.
  • 0–2 years of practical experience in industrial instrumentation or control systems.
  • Knowledge of PLC/DCS systems, SCADA, and process control signals (4–20 mA, HART, digital).
  • Experience with calibration equipment (calibrators, multimeters, loop testers, etc.).
  • Ability to troubleshoot field devices and basic control loops independently.
  • Familiarity with safety standards (ISA, IEC, OSHA) and industrial plant environment.
  • Strong problem-solving, teamwork, and communication skills.
