Position Overview

Sarah Hardin Design is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Design Assistant to support our interior design team across project execution, procurement, and studio operations.

This role plays a critical part in keeping projects running smoothly—from sourcing and ordering to logistics and client deliverables—while also supporting the firm’s marketing presence and growth initiatives.

The ideal candidate is proactive, dependable, and thrives in a fast-paced, high-standard environment.

This role also supports retail operations, including storefront merchandising and inventory management.

Work Environment
This is a fully in-person role based in our design studio. Due to the hands-on nature of interior design—including materials sourcing, vendor coordination, and installs—remote or hybrid work is not available for this position.

Key Responsibilities

Project & Design Support

  • Assist designers with day-to-day project execution
  • Create and manage Design Boards for client presentations
  • Research furnishings, materials, and products within defined project parameters
  • Pull and source fabrics and materials from vendors (e.g., KBK, ITC, etc.)
  • Order and track client memos and samples
  • Maintain organized and accurate project files

Procurement & Order Management

  • Work closely with Team on procurement and order tracking across all projects
  • Complete Workroom Order Forms with precision for workrooms
  • Coordinate with vendors, workrooms, and delivery teams
  • Proactively resolve order issues, delays, or discrepancies
  • Maintain accurate procurement records and documentation

Operations & Logistics

  • Run errands as needed (FedEx/UPS, sample pickups, vendor visits, etc.)
  • Coordinate with contractors and vendors as directed
  • Assist with install preparation and on-site support
  • Check and distribute office mail daily

Studio Organization

  • Maintain organization of design library and sample materials
  • Organize and track memos and inventory
  • Assist with storage unit inventory management
  • Keep studio clean, organized, and presentation-ready
  • Assist clients with shopping appointments

Marketing Support

  • Assist with creation and scheduling of social media content
  • Support ongoing brand presence across platforms (Instagram, etc.)
  • Help organize and maintain marketing assets (photos, project files, captions)
  • Assist with basic website or content updates as needed

Events & Studio Pop-Ups

  • Assist in planning and executing studio pop-up events
  • Coordinate event logistics including vendor participation, product selection, and setup
  • Help manage timelines, checklists, and event preparation
  • Support merchandising and styling of the showroom for events
  • Assist with event promotion in coordination with marketing efforts
  • Provide on-site support during events, including client interaction and sales support
  • Help track event performance and assist with post-event follow-up

Business Development Support

  • Assist with client outreach and follow-up
  • Support new client inquiry tracking and coordination
  • Help maintain CRM or lead tracking systems
  • Assist with proposals, presentations, and onboarding materials
  • Contribute to improving client experience and communication processes

Qualifications

  • 1–3 years' experience in interior design or related field is required.
  • Degree or coursework in Interior Design, Architecture, Business or similar field is required
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • High attention to detail—especially in ordering and tracking
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams)
  • Familiarity with design and marketing/project management tools (Design Files, Canva, social platforms, etc.) is a plus
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
