BGD is seeking an INTERIOR DESIGNER to join our dynamic Design-Build firm. We are seeking one or more candidates to fill out our design team. We offer competitive compensation and opportunities for advancement as well as schedule flexibility and a hybrid work structure for the right candidates.
All positions require residing in the Chicago Metro area.
Qualifications
- The ideal candidate should be well versed in interior design & construction fundamentals, be organized & possess an enthusiasm to learn in the interior design/construction field
- Candidate must know MS excel & PowerPoint & cad/drafting fundamentals
- Degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture or Architecture preferred
- Excellent graphic, verbal, and written communication skills
- Possess excellent research capabilities for sourcing makers, products and vendors to better serve project goals
- Can work seamlessly with remote colleagues and clients in a collaborate, creative environment
- Knowledge of millwork fundamentals and cabinetry design and nomenclature strongly preferred
- General familiarity with architectural & design motifs and historical movements
- Basic knowledge of furniture styles and terminology
- Familiarity with wallpaper, window treatments & upholstery preferred
- Awareness of design trends, retailers and makers
- Intellectual curiosity and big-picture thinking
- Able to use a tape measure, hammer and screw driver
- Be willing and able to move and lift deliveries and packages
- Able to solve problems and pivot efficiently to keep schedules on track
Responsibilities
- You will deal with design from conceptual development through completion while liaising with the stakeholders to execute the design
- Sourcing FFE, selecting finishes, ordering samples and inputting into presentations and schedules
- Space planning and developing drawing sets in Chief Architect/CAD
- Attend site visits and assist in installations as needed. Manage and coordinate all aspects of assigned projects, including client, GC and consultant communication
- Lead efforts such as design direction and development, construction documentation, budgets and schedules, construction administration etc
- Contribute to project success as member of Project Team, partners in leadership with Interiors Director and Project Architect; reports to Director and/or Partner
- Participates in firm activities, including: onboarding and supervising new staff / interns, business development and occasional social events
- Order placement, tracking, receiving and logistics
- Scheduling and management of many projects at once
