Summary

The Online Instruction Facilitator serves as the primary on-site support for students enrolled in the districts contracted asynchronous online program. This role is designed to bridge the gap between digital content and student success. The Facilitator ensures students remain on pace, provides immediate academic intervention for struggling learners, and manages the physical learning environment for students required to attend in-person sessions. This role is also responsible for record keeping for attendance, managing grade conversions to Infinite Campus as needed, and distributing school information.

Required education, training and experience

  • Bachelors degree in Education or a related field and licensed by the state of North Carolina
  • High comfort level with Learning Management Systems (e.g., Canvas, Edgenuity, Apex) and Google Workspace.
  • Ability to support multiple subjects simultaneously by utilizing the vendor's resources and teacher guides.
  • Experience in classroom management or academic coaching is preferred.

Essential duties and responsibilities

1. On-Site Academic Support & Intervention
  • Direct Assistance: Provide in-person, one-on-one, or small-group tutoring to students who are struggling with concepts presented in the asynchronous online modules.
  • Success Coaching: Work specifically with "at-risk" students (those failing or behind schedule) to develop study habits, time-management skills, and academic goals. Provide support to students to connect them with online teachers, help them schedule office hours appointments and online support.
2. Program Monitoring & Management
  • Progress Tracking: Regularly monitor the vendors learning management system (LMS) to track student attendance, participation, and grade averages.
  • Compliance: Ensure students are meeting the minimum required hours and submission deadlines set by the outside contracted company.
  • Technical Support: Act as the first line of defense for basic login issues, navigation hurdles, and hardware troubleshooting. Serve as a liaison between students and Caldwell County Schools Technology Department and manage chromebook distribution.
3. Behavioral & Environmental Oversight
  • Classroom Management: Maintain a professional and productive learning environment in the physical lab/classroom for students required to be on-site.
  • Attendance Documentation: Record and report daily in-person attendance for students mandated to attend due to low performance or disciplinary requirements.
4. Communication & Collaboration
  • Vendor Liaison: Serve as the point of contact between the district and the outside contracted company to resolve curriculum or grading discrepancies.
  • Parent/Guardian Updates: Provide regular feedback to families regarding a students progress, specifically when a student is transitioning between remote and required in-person attendance.
