Inventory Control Specialist

Overview

American Key Supply is a rapidly growing B2B master distributor of locksmith supplies and security hardware. As we transition our operations to NetSuite, inventory accuracy has become one of our highest priority.

We are seeking a data-driven, Inventory Control Specialist. This is not just a warehouse role; it is a critical bridge between our physical operations and our financial integrity. Your primary mission is to ensure that what is on our shelves matches our digital records 100% of the time, providing the "audit-ready" confidence our leadership and investors require.

Key Responsibilities (Your "Rocks")

  • NetSuite Cycle Count: Fully own and execute the cycle counting program within NetSuite. You will utilize NetSuite’s cycle counting functionality to schedule, perform, and reconcile daily counts without disrupting warehouse flow.
  • Audit-Ready Reconciliations: Investigate and resolve inventory variances (overages, shortages, and damages) immediately. Document "Root Cause" for discrepancies to improve systemic accuracy in preparation for our formal professional audit.
  • Bin & Location Optimization: Maintain and optimize bin management within NetSuite to ensure efficient picking and accurate put-away processes.
  • Accrual Accounting Support: Partner with the Finance team to track inventory movement, supporting accurate COGS reporting and inventory reserve calculations.
  • Process Improvement: Identify "leakage" points in the warehouse (shrinkage, improper labeling, or workflow bottlenecks) and implement SOPs to eliminate them.
  • Cross-Functional Coordination: Serve as the primary point of contact for the Purchasing and Receiving teams to resolve discrepancies in incoming shipments before they enter active inventory.
  • Other duties assigned by leadership and executive management

The "Measurables" (Your KPIs)

1. Inventory Accuracy Rate: Maintain a >99.5% accuracy rate at the bin level.

2. Cycle Count Completion: 100% adherence to the weekly counting schedule.

3. Variance Resolution Time: Investigate and reconcile 100% of discrepancies within 24–48 hours.

4. Shrinkage Reduction: Measurable reduction in annual inventory write-offs.

Skills & Qualifications

  • System Savvy: Proven experience using a Tier-1 ERP system (NetSuite experience is highly preferred). You must be comfortable using mobile scanners and digital bin management tools.
  • Analytical Mindset: You don't just find a mistake; you find the reason for the mistake. Advanced Excel or Google Sheets skills are required for data analysis.
  • Attention to Detail: You are the person who notices a single digit off on a SKU from 10 feet away.
  • Physical Capacity: Ability to walk and stand for long periods and lift/move up to 50 lbs solo in a warehouse environment.
  • Experience: 2+ years in inventory control, supply chain, or warehouse operations in a high-SKU environment.
