Job Purpose
The Inventory Controller is responsible for managing, controlling, and monitoring all inventory-related activities across warehouses and project sites to ensure material availability, accuracy of stock records, cost control, and compliance with company policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities Inventory Control & Stock Management
- Monitor inventory levels to ensure optimal stock availability for ongoing and upcoming projects.
- Maintain accurate inventory records for materials, tools, spare parts, and consumables.
- Conduct regular stock counts (daily, weekly, monthly, and annual physical inventories).
- Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies, shortages, and damages.
Receiving & Issuing Materials
- Verify received materials against Purchase Orders, Delivery Notes, and specifications.
- Ensure proper documentation for all material receipts and issues.
- Coordinate with procurement, warehouse, and project teams for timely material issuance.
System & Reporting
- Update inventory transactions accurately in ERP / inventory management systems.
- Prepare inventory reports (stock aging, slow-moving items, consumption reports, variances).
- Support audit activities by providing accurate inventory data and documentation.
Cost Control & Optimization
- Identify obsolete, slow-moving, or excess stock and recommend corrective actions.
- Support inventory optimization to reduce holding costs and material wastage.
- Ensure FIFO / FEFO practices are properly implemented.
Compliance & Coordination
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and HSE requirements.
- Coordinate with site engineers, procurement, and finance teams for material planning and reconciliation.
- Support material forecasting based on project schedules and consumption trends.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field (preferred).
- 3–5 years of experience as an Inventory Controller, preferably in construction or contracting companies.
- Strong knowledge of construction materials and warehouse operations.
- Experience working with ERP systems (Oracle, SAP, or similar).
