Inventory Controller

Job Purpose

The Inventory Controller is responsible for managing, controlling, and monitoring all inventory-related activities across warehouses and project sites to ensure material availability, accuracy of stock records, cost control, and compliance with company policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities Inventory Control & Stock Management

  • Monitor inventory levels to ensure optimal stock availability for ongoing and upcoming projects.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records for materials, tools, spare parts, and consumables.
  • Conduct regular stock counts (daily, weekly, monthly, and annual physical inventories).
  • Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies, shortages, and damages.

Receiving & Issuing Materials

  • Verify received materials against Purchase Orders, Delivery Notes, and specifications.
  • Ensure proper documentation for all material receipts and issues.
  • Coordinate with procurement, warehouse, and project teams for timely material issuance.

System & Reporting

  • Update inventory transactions accurately in ERP / inventory management systems.
  • Prepare inventory reports (stock aging, slow-moving items, consumption reports, variances).
  • Support audit activities by providing accurate inventory data and documentation.

Cost Control & Optimization

  • Identify obsolete, slow-moving, or excess stock and recommend corrective actions.
  • Support inventory optimization to reduce holding costs and material wastage.
  • Ensure FIFO / FEFO practices are properly implemented.

Compliance & Coordination

  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and HSE requirements.
  • Coordinate with site engineers, procurement, and finance teams for material planning and reconciliation.
  • Support material forecasting based on project schedules and consumption trends.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field (preferred).
  • 3–5 years of experience as an Inventory Controller, preferably in construction or contracting companies.
  • Strong knowledge of construction materials and warehouse operations.
  • Experience working with ERP systems (Oracle, SAP, or similar).

  • Strong analytical and numerical skills.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good communication and coordination skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and inventory reporting.

  • Inventory accuracy rate
  • Stock variance percentage
  • Material availability vs. project demand
  • Slow-moving / obsolete stock value
  • Timeliness of inventory reporting
