Location/Division Specific Information

This on-site role in Tarrytown, NY, involves executing customer-specific inventory optimization tasks. Responsibilities include data analytics, inventory planning and sourcing, process excellence, conducting Business Reviews, and generating metrics and related reports.

What will you do?

  • Establish and implement inventory plans to ensure appropriate levels for customer operations. Ensure inventory plans meet or exceed SLAs.
  • Analyze data and make recommendations to achieve profitability, customer service, and optimize inventory program.
  • Collaborate with the Site Leadership team on implementing changes resulting from analysis.
  • Ensure monthly reporting and subsequent follow-up using Inventory Management System, COGNOS, PowerBI, Velocity, etc.
  • Mentor site team on Best Practices.
  • Identify and develop new planning tools in conjunction with the supply chain team.
  • Analyze and review supplier lead times and evaluate if stocking requests are recommended.
  • Develop and maintain site-specific metrics.
  • Prepare Business Reviews as needed
  • Schedule and ensure timely completion of annual physical inventory and quarterly cycle counts at customer sites
  • Investigate and reconcile inventory discrepancies.
  • Develop training materials and train colleagues on inventory management procedures and standard methodologies.
  • Work effectively with a diverse cross-functional team.
  • Deploy Practical Process Improvement (PPI) methodologies in problem solving
  • Complete other duties as assigned by management.

How will you get here?

Education

  • BS/BA degree in Inventory Management, Material Planning, Operations, or related field; job-related experience may be considered in lieu of a college degree.
  • APICS certification preferred.

Experience

  • Experience in a laboratory setting or services preferred.
  • 2+ years of equivalent experience required.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. This includes maintaining a professional appearance and demeanor in all interactions and upholding Thermo Fisher Scientific's values, including confidentiality.
  • Demonstrates computer proficiency and possesses intermediate skills in Microsoft Office suite of software.
  • Possesses strong analytical abilities to problem solve, make timely decisions, and coordinate multiple overlapping priorities, while functioning in a fast-paced work environment
  • Maintains confidentiality for both customer and company information.
  • Highly organized with a track record of meeting project deadlines.
  • Fluent in English (reading, writing, speaking).

Physical Requirements / Work Environment

  • Works primarily at customer sites, which may require independent work at the customer locations. Work areas may include spaces where chemical-based allergens are in use (such as penicillin, tetracycline, etc.)
  • Depending on the area of the building, personal protective equipment may need to be worn, including lab coats, coveralls, hoods, facemasks, hairnets, safety gloves, steel-toe shoes (required for all colleagues), bump hats, and/or safety glasses.
  • May be required to lift 30 - 40lbs, and up to 50lbs occasionally. May use equipment including pushcarts, pallet jacks, mobile cylinders, forklifts, etc. to push/pull up to 100lbs
  • Regularly required to stand, walk and conduct manual material handling (twisting, bending, reaching, lifting, etc.) for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to work in environments with varied temperatures (cold rooms, outside, etc.)
  • Flexibility to work overtime or operate independently, as needed.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range estimated for this position based in New York is $56,100.00–$75,000.00.
