Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced IT Manager to lead our technology infrastructure, ensuring high and cost efficiency. This hands-on role combines strategic oversight with practical execution, including website development/maintenance and basic A/V production. The ideal candidate is a fiscally responsible leader who can balance innovation with budget constraints in a healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Infrastructure Leadership
- Oversee the entire IT ecosystem for a large medical practice (EHR/EMR systems, PACS, telemedicine platforms, servers, networking, cloud services, endpoints).
- Ensure 99.9%+ uptime, ironclad cybersecurity, and full HIPAA compliance.
- Manage vendor contracts, hardware/software lifecycles, and disaster recovery/business continuity planning.
- Fiscal Responsibility & Budget Management
- Develop and maintain annual IT budgets with detailed ROI justification for all expenditures.
- Negotiate vendor contracts to reduce costs without compromising quality or security.
- Implement cost-saving measures (e.g., cloud optimization, open-source tools where appropriate, hardware refreshes on extended cycles).
- Website Creation & Maintenance
- Lead redesigns, updates, and ongoing maintenance of the practice’s public-facing website and patient portal.
- Ensure WCAG 2.1+ accessibility, mobile responsiveness, SEO optimization, and integration with scheduling/EHR systems.
- Manage CMS (WordPress, Drupal, or custom), SSL certificates, and performance monitoring.
- Audio/Video Production (Basic)
- Produce and edit short-form patient education videos, staff training modules, and telehealth backgrounds.
- Manage in-clinic digital signage, waiting-room displays, and virtual meeting setups (Zoom/Teams).
- Maintain A/V equipment inventory and troubleshoot issues.
- Team & Project Leadership
- Supervise a small IT support team and coordinate with third-party MSPs.
- Lead IT projects from needs assessment through implementation and training.
- Create documentation, SOPs, and end-user training materials.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5+ years managing IT infrastructure in a healthcare setting (large practice or hospital system).
- Proven fiscal responsibility: track record of reducing IT spend by 15%+ while improving service levels.
- Website expertise: full-stack capability (HTML/CSS/JS + PHP/.NET/Python) or deep WordPress/Drupal administration with custom plugin/theme development.
- Basic A/V skills: proficiency with Adobe Premiere or DaVinci Resolve, microphone/lighting setups, and encoding for web.
- Certifications (any): CompTIA Security+, CISSP, CCNA, Microsoft 365, HIPAA compliance training.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Epic, Cerner, or athenahealth EHR integrations
- Proficiency with Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive, Gmail) for healthcare team collaboration and documentation
- Cloud platforms (Azure, AWS) with healthcare data compliance
- Basic scripting/automation (PowerShell, Python) for repetitive tasks
- Change management in clinical environments
