JOB TITLE: IT Specialist
RESPONSIBLE TO: Director of Educational Technology & Principal
JOB GOAL: To provide excellent technical and helpdesk support services for the students, faculty, and staff of Gulf Shores City Schools
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree or higher from accredited college or university.
- Possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
- Ability to meet the suitability criteria for employment and/or certification/licensure under the Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act No. 2002-457.
- Strong technical knowledge of networks and operating systems, especially macOS and iOS.
- Must be able to pass the latest available version of the Apple Certified Support Professional exam within 6-months of employment.
- Must possess knowledge of mobile device management (MDM).
- Strong knowledge of administration of Microsoft 365.
- Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong leadership, organizational and project management skills.
- Ability to effectively lead and implement simultaneous projects and initiatives while meeting multiple deadlines.
- Understanding of the goals and objectives of a K-12 organization.
- High level of personal initiative and ability to work without close supervision.
- Ability to conduct and direct research into information and educational technology issues/products as required.
- Ability to life up to 50 pounds; agility and dexterity needed to stop, bend, lift/move equipment (computers and/or peripherals, etc.) when necessary and to perform technical equipment inspections and/or repairs.
- Ability and willingness to work after hours, weekends, or holidays when necessary.
- Ability to be punctual and in regular attendance.
- Such alternative qualifications to those listed as the Board may require.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Demonstrates support for the school system and its vision, goals, and priorities.
- Advocates, supports, promotes, and communicates all aspects of Gulf Shores City Schools technology programs, services and initiatives.
- Works within the school system community to promote excellent customer service, effective response times and provide expert insights into general support issues.
- Enforces quality of service guidelines for dealing with customers, completing services, and overall customer satisfaction.
- Identifies, diagnoses, and resolves technology problems for end users, personal computer software and hardware, district network, the Internet and other technology issues.
- Provides outstanding customer service with efficient, effective, courteous and timely technical support. Respond professionally and competently to all requests.
- Communicates help desk procedures to students, teachers and administrators
- Diagnoses and resolves hardware and software issues.
- Assists in developing and refining standard help desk procedures.
- Helps design, administer and maintain help desk work order system.
- Maintains appropriate confidentiality regarding school/workplace matters.
- Performs duties in a courteous and professional manner.
- Demonstrates initiative in identifying potential problems and/or opportunities for improvement in areas of responsibility.
- Reports potential problems, unusual events, or work irregularities to appropriate administrative or supervisory personnel.
- Responds to inquiries, requests, constructive feedback, concerns and/or complaints in a timely and positive manner.
- Leads projects to change or implement new systems, software, or procedures.
- Documents and troubleshoots problems with the network.
- Works with school administration on school specific needs and requirements.
- Maintains and submits reports, records, and correspondence in a timely and accurate manner.
- Properly uses and cares for tools, equipment, and material resources of the school system and effectively supervises and monitors others in the care, maintenance, and use of tools, equipment, and inventory.
- Adheres to school system rules, administrative procedures, local Board policies, and state, federal, and local regulations.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor.
