Job Purpose:
The IT Support Officer is responsible for providing technical assistance, troubleshooting, and maintenance for all hardware, software, and network systems within the organization. This role ensures the smooth functioning of IT infrastructure and supports staff in resolving IT-related issues promptly.
Key Responsibilities:
- Technical Support:
- Respond to IT support requests via phone, email, or ticketing system.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network issues for end-users.
- System Installation & Maintenance:
- Install, configure, and maintain operating systems, applications, and hardware.
- Perform regular updates, patches, and security upgrades on all systems.
- Network Management:
- Monitor LAN/WAN, internet connectivity, and wireless networks.
- Troubleshoot connectivity issues and liaise with service providers when required.
- User Account Management:
- Create and manage user accounts, email IDs, and access permissions.
- Ensure compliance with company IT policies for data security and privacy.
- Backup & Data Protection:
- Schedule and maintain regular backups of critical data.
- Implement disaster recovery and data protection measures.
- IT Asset Management:
- Maintain an updated inventory of IT equipment and software licenses.
- Coordinate with vendors for procurement, repair, and warranty services.
- Security & Compliance:
- Implement and monitor antivirus, firewall, and network security protocols.
- Ensure adherence to IT security policies and procedures.
- Training & Documentation:
- Provide basic IT training and guidance to staff on system use.
- Maintain documentation for systems, configurations, and troubleshooting procedures.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- 1–3 years of experience in IT support or helpdesk roles.
- Knowledge of Windows/Linux operating systems, MS Office, and common applications.
- Basic understanding of networking (LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi) and IT security principles.
