IT Support Officer

Company Description


The SME Development Fund, capitalized at RO 100 million, is a private sector initiative supported by the Partnership for Development (PFD) to empower small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Oman. The Fund aims to help existing SMEs grow and nurture new entrepreneurs and ventures, boosting the local economy. Capital for the Fund is sourced from Omani and international investors, including pension funds. Additionally, PFD partners contribute through low-interest loans of €50 million and grants, such as an initial tranche of $30 million, to support the Fund's operations and objectives.



Responsibilities

1. Hardware & Infrastructure Support

a. Install, configure, and maintain desktop computers, laptops, printers, scanners, and other IT equipment.

b. Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of hardware issues.

c. Assist in managing IT inventory and asset tracking.

d. Support basic network connectivity issues (LAN, Wi-Fi, email configuration)

2. Systems & User Support

a. Provide first-level IT helpdesk support to all employees.

b. Troubleshoot software, email, printing, and system-related issues.

c. Assist users in installing approved software and applications.

d. Escalate complex technical issues to the Head of the department when required.

e. Support users in basic system usage and IT-related queries.

3. Security & Backup Support

a. Assist in performing periodic data backups as instructed.

b. Ensure antivirus and endpoint protection systems are updated.

c. Support implementation of IT security policies and access controls.

d. Report any suspected security incidents immediately to the Head of the department.

4. Business Continuity Support

a. Assist in ensuring the availability of IT systems and services.

b. Support system recovery procedures under supervision.

c. Help in maintaining documentation of IT procedures and configurations.

5. Coordination & Administrative Support

a. Coordinate with vendors for maintenance visits under supervision.

b. Assist in setting up IT equipment for meetings and events.

c. Perform any other tasks assigned by the Head of the department.


Qualifications

  • Fresh graduate or 0–1 year experience in IT support
  • Diploma Degree in IT/Computer Science/MIS or a similar field
