Joinery Detailer

ِAs a Joinery Detailer / Draftsman, you will translate architectural and interior design concepts into precise, production-ready technical drawings for custom woodwork and interior fit-out projects. You will work closely with designers, project managers, and factory teams to ensure that all joinery elements are accurate, feasible to .manufacture, and compliant with building standards

Key responsibilities:

• Create detailed drawings: Produce 2D and 3D technical drawings, including plans, elevations, and sections for custom items such as cabinets, doors, wardrobes, and wall panels.
• Interpret design concepts: Analyze architectural and interior design briefs to develop technical solutions and convert them into shop or fabrication drawings.
• Prepare production documents: Create cutting lists, hardware schedules, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and material take-offs to guide the manufacturing process.
• Collaborate and coordinate: Liaise with designers, architects, site engineers, and production teams to ensure all aspects of the design are understood and achievable.
• Perform site visits: Visit project sites to take accurate measurements, verify dimensions, and address any technical issues that arise during construction.
• Ensure compliance and quality: Check that all designs adhere to industry standards, building codes, and safety regulations, and update drawings based on feedback or site modifications.
• Specify materials and finishes: Provide guidance on material selections and finishes, coordinating with suppliers and manufacturers to ensure design feasibility.
• Manage project documentation: Maintain organized records of drawing versions and approvals throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications and skills, Education and experience

• A diploma or bachelor's degree in Architecture, Interior Design, or a related technical field is preferred.
• Minimum 3–5 years of experience in joinery detailing, especially for interior fit-out projects.

Technical and software skills

• CAD software proficiency: Expertise in 2D and 3D CAD software is essential. Common tools include AutoCAD, SketchUp, Revit, Inventor, and SolidWorks.
• Knowledge of joinery: A strong understanding of joinery techniques, manufacturing processes, wood properties, and materials (e.g., MDF, veneer, hardwood) is crucial.
• Blueprint reading: The ability to read and accurately interpret complex architectural, structural, and MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) drawings is necessary for the role.

Soft skills

• Attention to detail: Meticulousness is vital to produce precise drawings and ensure the quality of the final product.
• Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills are needed to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders, clearly conveying design specifications and requirements.
• Problem-solving: Detailers must be able to address technical challenges, propose practical solutions, and adapt to changing project requirements.
• Time management: The ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet strict deadlines is important in this fast-paced environment.

Career path: You will work mostly in an office environment, wisiting the shop floor often and site as required. With experience, your position will advance you to senior detailing roles, project management, or other technical leadership positions within the company.
