Job Purpose
To supervise and manage on-site joinery installation activities ensuring work is executed according to approved drawings, project specifications, quality standards, and project timelines. The Joinery Foreman is responsible for leading carpentry teams, coordinating daily site activities, and ensuring proper installation of joinery works such as wardrobes, kitchen cabinets, doors, wall paneling, counters, vanity units, decorative elements, and custom-made furniture.
Key Responsibilities
1. Site Supervision & Workforce Management
- Supervise daily site activities related to joinery and carpentry works.
- Allocate tasks to carpenters, installers, and helpers according to the project schedule.
- Monitor daily work progress and ensure tasks are completed within the defined deadlines.
- Maintain discipline, productivity, and coordination among site workers.
- Ensure efficient utilization of manpower and resources.
2. Joinery Installation Management
- Supervise installation of wardrobes, kitchen cabinets, doors, wall paneling, counters, vanity units, decorative joinery, and custom furniture.
- Ensure all installations follow approved shop drawings and project specifications.
- Monitor quality of workmanship and finishing during installation.
- Ensure hardware fittings and accessories are installed correctly and function smoothly.
3. Drawing Interpretation & Technical Guidance
- Read and interpret approved shop drawings and site drawings.
- Verify site measurements before installation to ensure accuracy.
- Guide carpenters and installers on correct installation methods.
- Provide technical instructions related to alignment, leveling, fixing methods, and finishing standards.
4. Quality Control & Workmanship
- Ensure joinery installation meets company quality standards and client expectations.
- Inspect completed works for alignment, finishing, and installation quality.
- Identify defects or installation issues and ensure corrective actions are taken immediately.
- Coordinate with QC inspectors or engineers during inspections.
5. Material Handling & Site Coordination
- Ensure proper handling and storage of joinery materials at site.
- Coordinate with storekeepers and project teams for timely availability of materials and hardware.
- Prevent material damage during installation and handling.
- Ensure tools and equipment required for installation are available.
6. Site Coordination & Communication
- Coordinate with project managers, site engineers, and other subcontractors.
- Ensure smooth workflow and avoid clashes with other site activities.
- Report site progress, challenges, and manpower status to supervisors or project managers.
- Support site inspections, client walkthroughs, and snag rectification.
7. Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with site safety procedures and company policies.
- Enforce use of personal protective equipment (PPE) among workers.
- Maintain clean and organized work areas on site.
- Report safety hazards and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
Key Requirements
Experience
- Minimum 4–6 years of experience in joinery installation and interior fit-out projects.
- Strong hands-on experience supervising site carpentry and joinery works.
Education
- Diploma / Technical training in Carpentry, Joinery, or related trade preferred.
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of joinery installation techniques and carpentry works.
- Ability to read and interpret shop drawings and site drawings.
- Knowledge of joinery materials, hardware fittings, and finishing standards.
- Experience installing wardrobes, kitchen cabinets, wall paneling, doors, and custom furniture.
