Roles and Responsibilities
- Inspect incoming paint materials for batch consistency, color accuracy, and adherence to specified standards, ensuring optimal finish quality.
- Monitor and control paint application processes, including spray techniques, drying times, and film thickness, to prevent defects and ensure uniform coverage.
- Perform detailed visual inspections of painted joinery components, identifying and documenting imperfections such as runs, sags, or unevenness.
- Conduct adhesion tests and other relevant quality checks to verify the durability and performance of the paint finish under various conditions.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, test results, and corrective actions, contributing to a comprehensive quality control system.
- Collaborate with painters and other team members to address and resolve paint-related issues, promoting continuous improvement in painting techniques.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations and environmental guidelines within the paint section, promoting a safe working environment.
- Calibrate and maintain paint equipment, including spray guns, pressure pots, and mixing stations, to guarantee consistent and reliable performance.
- Develop and implement quality control procedures and standards specific to the paint section, ensuring consistent quality across all projects.
- Investigate paint-related complaints or issues, determining root causes and implementing effective solutions to prevent recurrence.
Desired Candidate Profile
- High school diploma or equivalent; a relevant vocational certificate or associate degree in a related field is preferred.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in quality control within a joinery or woodworking environment, with a strong focus on paint finishes.
- Thorough understanding of paint types, application techniques, and common paint defects, demonstrating practical knowledge of the painting process.
- Proven ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and quality control standards related to paint finishes.
- Familiarity with various inspection tools and equipment, including film thickness gauges, gloss meters, and color matching systems.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify and analyze paint-related issues, enabling effective problem-solving.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, facilitating effective collaboration with painters and other team members.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple tasks and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of relevant safety regulations and environmental guidelines related to paint handling and application.
- Experience with quality management systems (e.g., ISO is a plus, showcasing a commitment to quality standards.
