JOB PURPOSE
The Field Security Assistant (FSA) will work under the direct supervision of the Senior Security Associate in Quetta Field Office. The incumbent should demonstrate responsibility for the completion of a range of security-related processes and activities requiring some interpretation of standard guidelines and practices.
The purpose of the assignment is to perform a range of specialized and process-oriented responsibilities related to security operations including monitoring and maintaining security equipment in line with established procedures.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (not all-inclusive, nor exhaustive):
1. Assist in reviewing security threats and risks, compile accurate reports on trends and situations that could adversely impact WFP operations to ensure information is accurately collated to support reporting and decision-making.
2. Review security-related information (e.g. security incidents and events, security support to daily activities, etc.) and use corporate or local information management tools to provide basic analyses and reports to ensure information is readily available for relevant stakeholders.
3. Liaise and coordinate with local administration, security and law enforcement authorities, communities, UN/NGO security staff and other actors to facilitate access for safe programme delivery and to mitigate potential risks against staff and other resources.
4. Assist in planning, coordinating, preparing and conducting field missions including tracking of staff, and perform regular security assessments in the area of responsibility to support safe and effective programme delivery.
5. Prepare detailed security assessment reports after field missions with risk mitigation recommendations to support security situation analysis and facilitate decision-making.
6. Assist in the formulation of advice to Head Provincial Office and Country Director on security risk management matters and safety issues in compliance with the United Nations Security Management System (UNSMS).
7. Assist in management and maintenance of security equipment and identify new requirements to strengthen technology capacity in line with business requirements.

9. Assist in monitoring that all access control procedures are effective and stringently followed by all staff and visitors to ensure accountability and maintenance of safe and secure environment.
10.Contribute to the development and update of emergency and contingency planning documentation including physical preparations and procedures to support preparedness for a crisis.
11. Assist in identification of security training needs to support training planning and implementation to address staff development needs.
12. Attend and summarize the security cell, and the Area Security Management Team ASMT meetings and advise the head of PO and head of security on the security decisions and discussion points at the meetings.
13. Maintain updated staff list, eligible dependents, security SOPs, and effective warden system.
14. Conduct regular visits to WFP warehouses to ensure security compliance including regular fire inspections as per the SRM.
15. Update the security unit annual work plan, security plan, and maintains effective security briefing for new staff and field missions.
16. Maintain proper records of the security documents including regular updates of the security share folder.
17. Submit mandatory reports including flash reports, weekly reports and STARS reports and daily staff headcount and mission tracking.
18. Any other task within the job expertise.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Education:
First level university (Bachelor's) degree in Peace and Conflict Studies, Business Administration, Economics, Commerce, Psychology, International relations, Commercial law or related field with focus on security management will be an advantage, as well as Bachelor’s Degree from the police academy or military college is highly desirable. Completion of secondary school education with a post-secondary certificate in Peace and Conflict Studies, Business Administration, Economics, Commerce, Psychology, International relations, Commercial law or related field with focus on security management is required.
Experience:
A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible work experience in security operations, security risk management, and other related areas of responsibilities. Security background and having military or police experience is desirable.
Knowledge & Skills:
- Specialized knowledge of the application of practical methods, techniques, procedures and systems used in security, typically gained through technical training and work experience. 
- Proficiency in Microsoft programs and strong analytical skills are desirable. 
- Broad knowledge and understanding of security logistics, security administration, risk assessment and co-ordination with local authorities and local law enforcement agencies.
