The Judicial Assistant in the Statewide Courts in Burlington provides specialized customer support, clerical and data entry work for the Information Center. The Information Center’s primary duty is answering phones for the Courts throughout the state, so the Judicial Assistant will have a general understanding and working knowledge of all divisions of the Judiciary to assist callers on the phone. This person may also record hearings in the courtroom for the Environmental Division or work in the Jury Administration Office. Additional responsibilities include completing transcript uploads, processing credit card payments over the phone, and completing criminal record checks. The position is suitable for a hybrid remote schedule once training is completed.
The ideal candidate will bring administrative, clerical and customer service experience and a desire to use their skills in upholding the rule of law to ensure equal access to justice.
This is a full-time, permanent opening in the Statewide Courts in Burlington, Vermont. Starting salary is $22.07 per hour. The Judicial Assistant is a non-exempt Judicial Branch position equivalent to pay grade 19. The State of Vermont’s total compensation package features an outstanding set of employee benefits that are worth about 30% of your total compensation.

Summary of Duties
Scheduled hours of work generally conform to public court hours, but assignments may extend beyond those hours. Occasional travel to other courts within the State of Vermont may be required. Travel will be reimbursed according to State policies. This position will be eligible for longevity increases in accordance with the State step pay plan and annual cost of living increases as enacted by the Vermont State Legislature. Job Code # 25080
