Job Description: Junior Accountant

Position Overview:

The Junior Accountant is responsible for providing support to the finance and accounting department by handling daily accounting tasks, maintaining accurate financial records, assisting in preparation of financial reports, and ensuring compliance with company policies and statutory regulations. This role is ideal for candidates who are detail-oriented, eager to learn, and looking to build a career in finance and accounting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Bookkeeping & Data Entry
  • Record daily financial transactions in accounting software (Tally/ERP/SAP/QuickBooks, etc.).
  • Maintain and update ledgers, journals, and other accounting records.
  • Ensure timely and accurate posting of entries.
  • Accounts Payable & Receivable
  • Assist in processing vendor invoices, verifying bills, and preparing payment vouchers.
  • Monitor accounts receivable, follow up with clients/customers for payments.
  • Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies.
  • Banking & Reconciliation
  • Prepare and update bank reconciliation statements.
  • Monitor daily cash flow and petty cash handling.
  • Assist in fund transfers and cheque management.
  • Financial Reporting Assistance
  • Support in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Assist senior accountants in preparing balance sheets, P&L accounts, and MIS reports.
  • Maintain supporting documentation for audits.
  • Taxation & Compliance
  • Assist in preparing and filing GST, TDS, and other statutory returns.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and government regulations.
  • Maintain proper documentation for audits and assessments.
  • Expense Management
  • Process employee reimbursements and travel claims.
  • Track and control office and project-related expenses.
  • Audit Support
  • Prepare schedules and provide necessary documents for statutory/internal audits.
  • Coordinate with auditors for clarifications and requirements.
  • Other Responsibilities
  • Maintain confidentiality of financial data and company information.
  • Assist the finance team with special projects and ad-hoc reports.
  • Support in implementing and improving accounting systems and procedures.

Key Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of basic accounting principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and accounting software (Tally/ERP/SAP/QuickBooks preferred).
  • Good analytical, problem-solving, and numerical skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in data entry.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Good communication skills (written and verbal).

Educational & Professional Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 2 years of relevant experience in accounting/finance (freshers may also apply).
  • Knowledge of GST, TDS, and other statutory compliances will be an added advantage.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From ₹15,000.00 per month
