Position: Junior CAD Technician

About the role
We’re looking for a reliable Junior CAD Technician to support our engineering and design teams by producing accurate 2D and 3D drawings, updating as-built documentation, and maintaining CAD standards. This is an excellent entry-level role for someone with technical drafting training and a strong attention to detail who wants to grow into a technical design role.
Key responsibilities
- Produce and update 2D CAD drawings and basic 3D models from sketches, BIM models, and engineering notes.
- Translate engineer / architect instructions into clear, dimensioned drawings ready for production, procurement, and site teams.
- Prepare drawing revisions, markups, and issue-controlled drawing sets (PDFs, DWGs) and maintain the drawing register.
- Apply and maintain company CAD standards (layering, naming conventions, title blocks, scales).
- Assist in preparing shop drawings, fabrication details, and material take-offs as directed.
- Coordinate with engineers, project managers, and site staff to clarify details and incorporate feedback.
- Scan and digitize paper drawings; archive both electronic and physical documentation.
- Support QA checks: verify dimensions, tolerances, and notes for completeness before issuing drawings.
- Assist with basic BIM tasks or keep model views current (if applicable).
- Perform other drafting-related administrative tasks (plotting, file backups, version control).
Required qualifications & experience
- Diploma / certificate in CAD, Drafting, Civil/Mechanical/Architectural Technology, or related field.
- 0–2 years’ practical CAD/drafting experience (internships, college projects, or entry-level roles acceptable).
- Proficiency in AutoCAD (2D) is essential.
- Basic understanding of drawing conventions, dimensioning, tolerances, and scales.
- Good computer skills and familiarity with Windows, file management, and PDF tools.
- Strong attention to detail and a methodical, accuracy-first mindset.
Preferred skills
- Exposure to one or more of: Revit, SolidWorks, MicroStation, Inventor, or SketchUp.
- Basic knowledge of building/structural/mechanical drawings relevant to your industry (construction, MEP, manufacturing, etc.).
- Experience with title blocks, templates, and drawing registers.
- Familiarity with material take-offs and simple quantity estimation.
- Good communication skills and ability to work with multidisciplinary teams.

Working conditions
- Standard office hours with occasional extended hours during project deadlines.
- Mostly desk-based CAD work
- Role involves prolonged computer use and detailed visual inspection of drawings.
