Junior Underwriter - Fintech Company

About Dash.fi

Dash.fi Technologies, Inc. is a Mastercard-powered financial technology platform built for digital advertisers, e-commerce brands, and performance marketing businesses. We provide high-limit commercial credit cards, flexible payment solutions, and intelligent spend management tools that help clients scale advertising budgets and operating velocity without the friction of traditional banking.

Our clients move fast and operate with complex financials — multiple revenue streams, volatile cash flows, and seasonality driven by advertising platform performance. The Underwriting team is the analytical engine that ensures we can say yes quickly and confidently to the right businesses.

Position Overview

The Junior Underwriting Analyst is an entry-level, execution-focused role on Dash.fi's Underwriting Operations team. The primary function of this role is to review, organize, and prepare financial document packages that support the underwriting decision-making process. You are not making credit decisions — you are ensuring that the right financial information is collected, validated, and presented accurately so that senior underwriters can move quickly and confidently.

The most important thing we are looking for is not prior underwriting experience. What matters most is a strong foundation in financial statements and accounting principles — the ability to read a P&L, understand a balance sheet, and know what a cash flow statement is telling you about a business. If you have an accounting or finance background and you are precise, organized, and process-driven, we can teach you everything else.

What We Are Really Looking For

A candidate who can pick up a set of financial statements and quickly orient themselves — identifying revenue, gross profit, operating expenses, cash position, and red flags. You do not need to have worked in underwriting. You need to understand the language of business financials. A background in accounting, financial analysis, bookkeeping, banking, or finance is the foundation we are building on.

Key Responsibilities

1. Financial Document Review & Validation

  • Review incoming financial document packages for completeness and accuracy, including P&L statements, balance sheets, bank statements, tax returns, and cash flow statements.
  • Identify missing, inconsistent, or unclear financial data and follow up with Account Executives to obtain required documentation before packages advance.
  • Validate that financial figures are internally consistent — ensuring that numbers on one document align with related figures on others.
  • Flag material discrepancies, unusual patterns, or data integrity concerns to the Head of Underwriting for review.
  • Summarize key financial metrics from applicant documents — revenue, gross margin, monthly cash flow, outstanding obligations — for senior underwriter review.

2. Package Assembly & Documentation

  • Assemble complete, organized underwriting packages according to defined templates and checklists before routing for decisioning.
  • Maintain accurate, version-controlled file organization across all active cases in the CRM and document management systems.
  • Ensure all documents are correctly labeled, properly dated, and clearly linked to the correct applicant record.
  • Track the status of all open packages through defined stages and maintain accurate pipeline records in HubSpot.

3. Process Execution & SLA Compliance

  • Execute underwriting workflows according to defined processes, checklists, and turnaround standards — prioritizing accuracy over speed while maintaining required SLAs.
  • Manage multiple active cases simultaneously and communicate proactively when deadlines or document availability may affect timing.
  • Identify process inefficiencies or documentation gaps and escalate recommendations to the Head of Underwriting.

4. Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Serve as the primary point of contact between Account Executives and the underwriting team on document collection and package status.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally about outstanding requirements, ensuring Account Executives understand what is needed and why.
  • Support the Head of Underwriting with ad hoc analysis, reporting, and document requests as needed.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field — or equivalent work experience demonstrating financial literacy
  • Prior experience in accounting, financial analysis, bookkeeping, banking, lending, or a finance operations role
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret financial statements: income statements (P&L), balance sheets, and cash flow statements
  • Familiarity with common financial metrics: gross margin, operating income, EBITDA, debt-to-income ratio, and working capital
  • Strong attention to detail and data accuracy — you catch what others miss and take ownership of quality
  • Experience reviewing tax returns, bank statements, or business financial documents in a professional context
  • Organized and process-oriented — comfortable following defined workflows, checklists, and documentation standards
  • HubSpot or CRM experience — familiarity with pipeline tracking and document management
  • Proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets for data organization, basic calculations, and summary preparation
  • Experience with data integration tools such as Plaid or similar financial data connectors
  • Clear written communication skills — able to follow up professionally and concisely with internal stakeholders
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting with coursework in financial statement analysis, managerial accounting, or auditing
  • Comfort working in a remote environment with structured daily workflows and team coordination across channels
  • Background in a high-accuracy, high-volume document processing environment
