Kailua Family Seeking Overnight Newborn Nanny Support

A thoughtful Kailua family is seeking an experienced overnight newborn nanny to support their 12-day-old baby during the early newborn stage. This role is ideal for a caregiver who is calm, observant, confident overnight, and able to provide attentive care while helping first-time parents get meaningful rest and peace of mind.

ABOUT THE FAMILY

This family welcomed their first baby and is looking for overnight support that helps them rest while knowing their daughter is in capable, caring hands. Mom and Dad are thoughtful, collaborative, and highly engaged, but also want a nanny who can work independently within clear guidelines overnight.

The family is looking for a nanny who is attentive, calm, and quick to communicate anything concerning.

The family also has a dog in the home, so comfort around dogs is important.

POSITION DETAILS

• Location: Kailua, Oʻahu
• Children: 1 newborn, girl
• Schedule: Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday nights
• Hours: 10:00 PM – 6:00 AM
• Weekly Hours: 24 hours/week
• Start Date: April 2nd
• Duration: Initially expected to be about 1 month, with possible flexibility depending on family needs
• Pet: 1 dog

RESPONSIBILITIES: Overnight Newborn Care

• Provide safe, attentive overnight care for a newborn
• Handle bottle feedings, burping, diaper changes, soothing, and settling baby back to sleep
• Support cluster feeding patterns as needed
• Keep baby upright for extended periods after feeds due to reflux/spit-up
• Monitor sleep, feeding, and behavior patterns throughout the shift
• Maintain a calm, quiet, overnight environment

Baby-Related Household Support

• Wash and sterilize bottles and pump parts
• Run sterilization cycles as needed
• Complete baby laundry
• Keep baby areas tidy and reset for the next day

Communication & Monitoing

• Track overnight care notes using the family’s app/system
• Leave clear updates for parents about feedings, diapering, sleep, and anything notable
• Proactive communication

IDEAL CANDIDATE

• Experienced with newborns and highly confident working overnight
• Calm, attentive, and comfortable supporting a baby with reflux
• Engaging and nurturing when baby is awake, not overly passive
• Comfortable working independently while parents sleep
• Science-oriented and respectful of a healthcare-informed household
• Communicates clearly and promptly about concerns
• Warm, dependable, and genuinely caring
• Comfortable around dogs

Household Preferences / Environment

• Home has Nanit/cameras throughout
• No heavy perfume
• No smoke smell on clothing
• Minimal cat dander exposure preferred due to allergies

Vaccination Preferences

Family prefers a nanny who is up to date on:

• Seasonal flu vaccine
• Tdap
• Standard immunity/vaccination coverage such as MMR/MMRV
• Hepatitis B

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

• Hourly Rate: $30/hr
• W-2 Employment with tax withholding
• Paid Time Off

REQUIREMENTS

• 3+ years of professional childcare experience
• Pediatric CPR & First Aid certification
• Strong professional references

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Spanish-speaking or Mandarin-speaking is a plus, but not required
• Comfortable using baby tracking apps/logs
• Strong overnight newborn care background
