About the Role:

The Kennel Worker plays a vital role in ensuring the health, safety, and comfort of animals under our care. This position involves daily maintenance of kennel facilities, including cleaning, sanitization, and monitoring the well-being of animals to promote their health and wellness. The Kennel Worker will also assist with animal handling and grooming tasks such as trimming, ensuring that each animal is treated with compassion and professionalism. Additionally, this role requires interaction with customers, managing front desk duties, and handling cash register operations to provide excellent service and support. Ultimately, the Kennel Worker contributes to a positive environment for both animals and clients, supporting the overall success of the facility.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in animal husbandry or related animal care roles.
  • Basic proficiency in handling animals safely and humanely.
  • Familiarity with cleaning and sanitization protocols in animal care settings.
  • Ability to operate a cash register and perform basic customer service duties.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working in a kennel, veterinary clinic, or pet grooming facility.
  • Training or certification in animal grooming or trimming.
  • Knowledge of animal health and wellness best practices.
  • Experience with front desk operations and data entry software.
  • Strong communication skills for effective customer interaction.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitization of kennel areas to ensure a safe and hygienic environment for animals.
  • Handle animals with care during feeding, grooming, and exercise routines, including trimming and basic health monitoring.
  • Assist customers at the front desk by answering inquiries, scheduling appointments, and processing payments using the cash register.
  • Perform data entry tasks related to animal records, customer information, and daily operational logs accurately and efficiently.
  • Monitor animal health and wellness, reporting any concerns or abnormalities to veterinary staff promptly.

Skills:

The Kennel Worker utilizes animal husbandry and handling skills daily to ensure animals are cared for safely and compassionately. Trimming and grooming skills are applied to maintain the animals' appearance and comfort. Sanitization expertise is critical to uphold a clean and disease-free environment within the kennel. Customer service and front desk skills are essential for managing client interactions, scheduling, and payment processing efficiently.
