Kitchen COMMI

Job Summary:

A Kitchen Commis (Commis Chef) is an entry-level culinary position in a professional kitchen. They support senior chefs and help with basic food preparation while learning kitchen operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Food Preparation & Cooking

  • Wash, peel, and cut vegetables and fruits.
  • Prepare basic ingredients (sauces, salads, garnishes).
  • Assist in cooking dishes under supervision.

Kitchen Operations

  • Set up and stock stations with necessary supplies for both hot and cold food production.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of all kitchen areas.
  • Monitor inventory and inform supervisors of any shortages.
  • Properly label and store food items according to health and safety regulations.

Health & Safety Compliance

  • Adhere to food safety and sanitation guidelines in accordance with local regulations.
  • Clean kitchen equipment, utensils, and surfaces
  • Ensure proper food handling practices including temperature control, storage, and rotation (FIFO).

Team Collaboration

  • Work closely with front-of-house staff to ensure timely and accurate order fulfilment.
  • Communicate effectively with the kitchen team to coordinate tasks and manage busy service times.
  • Work as part of a team and maintain discipline.

Requirements:

Education & Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar hot and cold kitchen role.
  • Culinary diploma or certificate preferred but not mandatory.
  • Pastry or Sandwiches assembling knowledge is a must.

Skills

  • Proficient in preparing a variety of hot and cold dishes.
  • Strong knowledge of kitchen hygiene and safety standards.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a busy kitchen.
  • Good organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Basic understanding of inventory management and portion control.

Working Conditions:

  • Casual dining restaurant environment.
  • Shifts may include evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
  • Standing for long periods and working in a hot kitchen environment.

  • Consistency and quality of food.
  • Timeliness of service during peak hours.
  • Compliance with food safety standards.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: QAR2,800.00 - QAR3,000.00 per month
