Job Summary and Qualifications

Utilizes Medical Technology skills and training to perform test of samples of blood, urine and other body fluids to obtain information utilized in diagnosis and evaluation of a patient’s medical situations. Manages all sections of Lab during a time period (shift). Coordinates staffing for the shift. Participates in new employee orientation/training. Good Communication skills and basic computer skilled needed. Enforces hospital and lab policies.

What you will do in this role:

• Maintains Quality Control for all departments within lab.
• Maintains all of department’s inventory.
• Performs general laboratory testing and reporting results.
• Mentors’ university students.
• Mentors’ new employees.
• Maintains schedule for second and third shifts.
• Participate in employee evaluations for second and third shifts.
• Monitors and oversee phlebotomy workload.
• Performs proficiency testing is required.

What qualifications you will need:

• Bachelor's Degree
• Completion of the necessary courses as required by the State of Texas Health Licensing Board to qualify as a Medical Technologist ASCP or AMT. Must maintain valid State of Texas license
• One year of experience working in a clinical lab setting required
