Laboratory Technician

Michelson Laboratories of Northern California is a leading food testing laboratory based in Southern California. Since 1970, Michelson Laboratories has provided efficient testing and analyses to an extensive spectrum of customers. We have a broad-based background and are thoroughly proficient in a diverse range of industries.

Our Manteca Laboratory provides a wide range of services and is staffed with industry leading analyst. We are expanding our Manteca Laboratory in our Manteca location and are looking for a Laboratory Technician. The Laboratory Technician will be responsible for performing analytical testing needs of food products, to an extensive spectrum of customers. The position works closely with the Laboratory Manager for analytical functions to support and ensure fast turn-around time and high-quality service.

Responsibilities for Laboratory Technician:

· Performing Chemistry / Microbiological testing in both food and environmental samples

· Maintaining records of testing, quality activities, and chemical / microbiological preparations as documented in SOPs and test methods

-Perform serial dilutions, sample enrichments, plating of microbial samples

-Perform titrations and extractions for chemical analysis

-Operate analytical instruments such as PCR, HPLC, ELISA-VIDAS, and VITEK

· Ensure all analyses meet the turnaround time

· Maintaining a clean and organized work area

· Sample Pickup at customer facilities as needed

· Other duties as assigned

Qualifications for Laboratory Technician:

· Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Microbiology, Biology, Food Science, or other closely related sciences preferred.

· Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills

· Comfortable in a fast-paced environment with minimal direction and able to adjust workload based upon changing priorities

· Problem-solving / trouble-shooting – is able to look upon problems as exciting challenges / critical thinking

· Positive / Professional Attitude

This Laboratory Technician position is full-time. Must have a flexible schedule and be able to work weekends, holidays and overtime when needed.

Starting at $19-$20/hr depending on experience
