Laboratory Technician (UAE National) – Civil Engineering

Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and meticulous UAE National Laboratory Technician to join our Civil Engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting a wide range of tests on civil engineering materials, ensuring compliance with industry standards and project specifications. This role is crucial for maintaining the quality and integrity of construction projects by providing accurate and reliable test results. The Laboratory Technician will operate and maintain laboratory equipment, record data, and contribute to the overall efficiency and safety of the lab environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform various laboratory tests on civil engineering materials such as soil, concrete, asphalt, aggregates, and steel, in accordance with ASTM, AASHTO, BS, and other relevant international standards.
• Operate, calibrate, and maintain a variety of laboratory equipment, including compression testing machines, sieves, proctor apparatus, direct shear machines, consolidation apparatus, and asphalt extraction equipment.
• Prepare test samples accurately and precisely, following established procedures and safety guidelines.
• Record, analyze, and interpret test data, ensuring accuracy and completeness of all documentation.
• Generate detailed test reports, summarizing findings and observations for engineers and project managers.
• Monitor and maintain inventory of laboratory consumables and equipment, initiating procurement requests as needed.
• Adhere strictly to all health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures within the laboratory.
• Assist in the development and implementation of new testing methodologies and quality control procedures.
• Troubleshoot and resolve minor equipment malfunctions, escalating complex issues to senior technicians or supervisors.
• Collaborate with field teams to collect samples and provide technical support when required.
• Ensure the laboratory environment is clean, organized, and conducive to accurate testing.
• Participate in internal and external audits to ensure compliance with quality management systems.
