Landscape Laborer

Job Summary

Duties

• Assist with lawn care tasks such as mowing, edging, trimming, and fertilizing to maintain healthy and attractive turf.
• Support landscape maintenance activities including planting, pruning, tree care, and shrubbery upkeep.
• Operate hand tools like shovels, rakes, pruners, and hoes to complete various landscaping tasks efficiently.
• Use power tools and equipment such as trimmers, blowers, and small machinery to prepare sites for planting or hardscape installation.
• Help with the installation of hardscape features like patios, walkways, retaining walls, and other structures.
• Support excavation work using equipment like mini-excavators or manual tools for site preparation.
• Assist with irrigation system installation and maintenance to ensure proper watering of landscapes.
• Participate in snow plowing operations during winter months to keep pathways safe and accessible.
• Perform routine maintenance on tools and equipment to ensure safety and optimal performance.
• Follow safety protocols at all times while working with machinery or in potentially hazardous environments.

Experience

• Prior experience in landscaping, gardening, or outdoor maintenance is preferred but not required; training will be provided for motivated learners.
• Mechanical knowledge or familiarity with power tools and hand tools is advantageous for efficient task completion.
• Basic understanding of horticulture principles such as plant care, pruning techniques, and soil preparation is a plus.
• Experience operating small construction or excavation equipment like excavators or skid steers is beneficial but not mandatory.
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions with physical stamina for physically demanding tasks.
• Strong teamwork skills and a positive attitude are essential for collaborating effectively with crew members.
• Willingness to learn new skills related to landscape construction, tree care, irrigation systems, and snow removal operations.
