Lead Design Architect / Architectural Head

Job Summary

CHSS IS is seeking an experienced Lead Design Architect to head the architectural design function at our Dubai Head Office. The role requires a strong consultancy background, proven design leadership, and hands-on experience in building and infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will lead a multidisciplinary team of architects, draftsmen, and engineers while ensuring high-quality design delivery aligned with client, regulatory, and international standards.

Key Responsibilities Design Leadership & Management

• Lead and oversee architectural design activities from concept through detailed design and construction support
• Establish design vision, standards, and methodologies in line with CHSS IS quality objectives
• Review and approve architectural drawings, design reports, and specifications
• Ensure compliance with local authorities (Dubai Municipality, Trakhees, etc.), international codes, and project requirements

Consultancy & Client Interface

• Act as the primary architectural point of contact for clients, stakeholders, and authorities
• Participate in client presentations, design reviews, and technical meetings
• Provide design solutions that balance aesthetics, functionality, cost, and constructability

Team Leadership

• Lead, mentor, and manage a team of architects, draftsmen, and engineers
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including structural, MEP, and infrastructure departments
• Allocate resources, manage workloads, and ensure timely project delivery

Building & Infrastructure Design

• Contribute to and review designs for commercial, residential, mixed-use, and infrastructure projects
• Ensure integration between architectural and infrastructure elements
• Support tender documentation, value engineering, and design optimization

Quality & Compliance

• Maintain high standards of design quality, accuracy, and documentation
• Implement internal QA/QC procedures
• Ensure all deliverables meet contractual and regulatory requirements

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture
• Minimum 12–15 years of experience, with a strong portion in design consultancy
• Proven experience in building and infrastructure projects
• Demonstrated experience leading architectural teams in a consultancy environment
• Strong knowledge of UAE building codes, regulations, and approval processes

Skills & Competencies

• Excellent design, technical, and leadership skills
• Strong coordination and communication abilities
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
• Proficiency in design and documentation tools (AutoCAD, Revit, BIM workflows preferred)
• Strategic thinker with hands-on design involvement

Language Requirements

• Native Arabic speaker (mandatory)
• Fluent in English (spoken and written)

Preferred Attributes

• Previous experience working in the UAE or GCC region
• Strong client-facing and presentation skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced consultancy environment
