We are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Ecology Consultant to join our Bangalore office.

As a Lead Engineer in the Rivers discipline, you will play a strategic and technical leadership role in the successful delivery of river engineering and flood risk management projects. You will lead multidisciplinary teams in the design and implementation of river infrastructure, including flood defences, culverts, embankments, and river restoration schemes. This role offers the opportunity to shape sustainable, resilient solutions for complex hydraulic environments while mentoring teams and engaging with clients across the UK and international markets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the delivery of river engineering projects from concept through to detailed design and construction support, ensuring technical excellence and innovation.
  • Provide technical leadership in civil hydraulics and structural design of riverine infrastructure.
  • Oversee the preparation and review of design calculations, drawings, specifications, and technical reports.
  • Manage project budgets, programmes, and resources, ensuring delivery to agreed quality, time, and cost.
  • Collaborate with geotechnical, environmental, and hydraulic modelling teams to deliver integrated, multidisciplinary solutions.
  • Engage with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies (e.g., Environment Agency, SEPA) to ensure alignment with project objectives and compliance with relevant standards.
  • Support business development through bid preparation, proposal writing, and client relationship management.
  • Mentor and develop junior engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.

Essential Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil / Structural Engineering or related discipline from a recognized university.
  • Chartered status or working towards it with professional bodies like ICE or IStructE.
  • Proven experience in leading river engineering or flood risk management projects.
  • Strong understanding of UK flood risk policy, EA standards, and relevant technical codes (e.g., Eurocodes, CIRIA, BS EN).
  • Proven leadership and project management capabilities, complemented by strong technical and analytical skills to drive successful project execution and innovative problem-solving.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a proven ability to prepare comprehensive technical reports and collaborate effectively within diverse team environments involving staff, clients, and stakeholders.
