Roles & Responsibilities-
Lead – Mechanical Design Engineer
He/she shall be responsible for driving
end-to-end product design and development(Product Owner)
of consumer and industrial electronic products, from concept stage through to production release and market launch. This role requires strong technical expertise, hands-on problem-solving skills, and leadership ability to guide a small team of engineers.
Key Responsibilities
Core Expertise:-

Lead complete mechanical design and development lifecycle:
concept design → prototyping → design validation → tooling → product launch
.

Translate customer/market requirements into innovative and manufacturable product designs.
-
Develop detailed
3D CAD models and 2D drawings in SolidWorks
with full GD&T and tolerance stack-up.
-
Perform design calculations, DFMEA, and tolerance analysis for robust product performance.

Design products in
plastics (injection moulding), sheet metal, die-casting, and machining
.
-
Drive
material selection
based on performance, regulatory compliance, and cost.
-
Ensure manufacturability, assembly efficiency, and cost optimization.

Hands-on experience with
3D printing and rapid prototyping
to validate
form, fit, and function
.

Build and test prototypes to identify design gaps early in the cycle.
-
Design products with proper
thermal management
(passive cooling, heatsinks, venting, etc.).

Perform preliminary
structural analysis, drop, and reliability considerations
.

Define and execute
test protocols
for functional verification.
Team Leadership & Collaboration

Lead and mentor a
small team of 2–3 mechanical engineers
, providing technical guidance and design reviews.

Collaborate cross-functionally with
electrical, firmware, quality, sourcing, and manufacturing teams
.

Work with vendors for prototyping, tooling, and production ramp-up.
-
Review vendor DFM feedback and ensure alignment with quality and performance requirements.

Support
project planning, timelines, and deliverables
.

Prepare and maintain
engineering documentation
: BoM, ECNs, ECOs, DHF/Design history, PLM updates.

Experience with
project management methodologies (Agile/Stage-Gate)

Exposure to
PLM tools, configuration management, and documentation control
.

Experience in
reliability engineering
(HALT, life testing).

Vendor management for
plastics, sheet metal, and tooling suppliers
.
Experience & Qualifications
-
Must have 8–10 years
of mechanical product design & development (NPD) experience.
-
Education Mechanical Engineering , Industrial Engineering or STEM.
-
Strong background in
consumer electronics, or similar domain experience is
preferred.

Must-have:
SolidWorks CAD expertise
with simulation exposure (thermal/structural FEA preferred).
-
Proven ability to
deliver end-to-end product designs
from concept to market.

Experience in
leading a small team (2–3 engineers).
-
Excellent problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills.
