Lead Planner – EPC (Oil & Gas Pipeline Projects)

Job Role

The Lead Planner is responsible for leading all planning, scheduling, and project control activities for assigned Oil & Gas pipeline EPC projects. The role ensures the development, implementation, and maintenance of integrated project schedules that accurately reflect engineering, procurement, construction, pre-commissioning, and commissioning activities.

The position provides planning leadership by managing project schedules, monitoring progress, identifying schedule risks, supporting recovery planning, and ensuring compliance with corporate planning standards and contractual requirements.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and control the Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) for assigned EPC pipeline projects using Primavera P6 .
  • Lead the planning and scheduling of engineering, procurement, right-of-way (ROW), construction spreads, pre-commissioning, and commissioning activities.
  • Establish project planning strategies, construction sequencing, productivity assumptions, and schedule logic to support efficient project execution.
  • Monitor project progress, critical path, productivity, and schedule performance, identifying risks and recommending mitigation or recovery actions.
  • Review and validate project progress, baseline changes, schedule updates, and forecasting to ensure schedule accuracy and compliance.
  • Prepare and present weekly and monthly planning reports, including schedule performance, S-curves, manpower histograms, forecasts, and recovery plans.
  • Assess schedule impacts arising from variations, delays, productivity losses, and change events, supporting EOT and claims where required.
  • Coordinate planning activities with Engineering, Procurement, Construction, QA/QC, HSE, Cost Control, and subcontractors to maintain an integrated project schedule.
  • Lead planning meetings and review subcontractor schedules to ensure alignment with project objectives.
  • Manage, mentor, and develop Planning Engineers, ensuring high-quality planning deliverables and compliance with company standards.


Qualifications & Experience

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related discipline.
  • Professional certification such as PMP, PMI-SP, AACE PSP , or equivalent is preferred.


Experience

  • Minimum 10–12 years of planning and scheduling experience in EPC projects, including at least 5 years on Oil & Gas pipeline projects .
  • Extensive experience with Primavera P6 for integrated schedule development, baseline management, progress monitoring, forecasting, and critical path analysis.
  • Strong knowledge of linear construction planning , including ROW activities, construction spreads, tie-ins, hydrotesting, and commissioning.
  • Experience in project controls , including schedule risk analysis, progress measurement, recovery planning, change management, and delay analysis.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Power BI for project reporting, performance analysis, and management dashboards.
