Why does the job exist?
This position exists to foster the professional growth and development of employees across the New Mexico Department of Health (NMDOH). Its primary purpose is to build workforce capacity and capability by designing, facilitating, procuring, and delivering engaging, high-quality training programs¿both in-person and online¿that align with the Department's mission, strategic goals, and core competencies. In addition to traditional training, this position exists to support the training needs of the Comprehensive Addiction and Recovery Act (CARA) Program. Its primary purpose is to design, facilitate, procure, and deliver engaging, high-quality training programs¿both in-person and online¿that align with the objectives of the CARA program. This includes providing training to NMDOH staff, clinics, providers, other agencies, and community partners. Through these efforts, the position ensures that all stakeholders are equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively support the goals of the CARA program and all programs in NMDOH.
How does it get done?
Training Delivery and Facilitation-Conduct engaging and interactive training sessions for NMDOH staff on approved courses and the TRAIN Learning Management System (LMS). Deliver both in-person and virtual trainings using a variety of instructional techniques and technologies to accommodate different learning styles.
Provide CARA Training -Develop and implement best practice trainings that align with the objectives of the Comprehensive Addiction and Recovery Act (CARA) Program and ensures that all stakeholders are equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively support the goals of the CARA program.
Assessment and Evaluation-Create tools and assessments to evaluate training needs and measure learning outcomes. Monitor and assess the effectiveness of training programs, making continuous improvements as needed.
Collaboration and Special Projects-Collaborate with subject matter experts and stakeholders to ensure training materials are accurate, up-to-date, and aligned with NMDOH goals. Participate in inter-agency training initiatives with the State Personnel Office when possible.

Minimum Qualification
Bachelor's Degree in any field and two (2) years of experience in adult education, instructional design, instructional technology, human resources, employee development, training, and/or producing instructional aid/materials. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling six (6) years may substitute for the required education and experience.
Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License.
Working Conditions
Office setting with extensive use of personal computer, telephone, copier and other related office equipment that involves sitting, standing, bending, reaching, etc. to include lifting up to 30 pounds.
This position may require travel to deliver in-person training sessions, as well as the flexibility to work from Santa Fe or Albuquerque.
