Overview:
The Human Resources Leave of Absence/Workers' Compensation Specialist administers and coordinates employee leave and work-related injury programs, ensuring compliance with federal and state laws like FMLA, ADA, and workers' comp regulations. The Leave of Absence/Workers’ Compensation Specialist key duties include processing leave requests and injury claims, managing documentation, communicating with employees and healthcare providers, and facilitating return-to-work and accommodation processes. This role is crucial for maintaining efficient Human Resources operations and a positive employee environment.
Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employees, managers, and providers regarding leave and injury matters.
  • Process and manage various leaves of absence, including FMLA, state disability, and personal leaves.
  • Administer and oversee workers' compensation claims, including processing claims, coordinating with insurance carrier, and managing claim status.
  • Ensure all processes and documentation comply with federal, state, and local laws, such as FMLA, ADA, and workers' compensation regulations.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of all leave and claim-related information.
  • Work with managers to facilitate return-to-work processes and explore potential accommodations.
  • Prepare reports on leave and workers' compensation data as needed.
  • Support the benefit enrollment process by assisting employees with forms and answering general benefits questions.
  • Assist with filing and managing employee records.
  • All other HR duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • High school graduate or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum three (3) years Human Resources experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
  • Must have knowledge of California workmen’s compensation laws.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish/Vietnamese/Chinese) preferred.
