Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Legal Assistant to join our dynamic legal team. This pivotal role offers an exciting opportunity to support a diverse range of legal practices, including estate planning, environmental law, family law, litigation, and more. As a Legal Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our law office by providing comprehensive administrative and research support. Responsibilities

  • Assist attorneys with legal case management by organizing and maintaining case files using document management systems such as iManage and PCLaw.
  • Conduct thorough legal research utilizing Westlaw, LexisNexis, and other legal research tools to support various practice areas including securities law, tribal law & regulations, patent law, workers' compensation law, personal injury law, landlord-tenant law, immigration law, and UCC law.
  • Prepare and review legal documents such as contracts, pleadings, affidavits, discovery requests, and correspondence with precision and attention to detail.
  • Support litigation processes through document review, evidence organization, and trial preparation assistance.
  • Manage incoming calls with professional phone etiquette; coordinate appointments and meetings for attorneys and clients.
  • Perform data entry tasks accurately while maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Proofread legal documents for accuracy and clarity; assist with transcription when necessary.
  • Support administrative functions including filing (both electronic and physical), maintaining document management systems like iManage, and tracking deadlines to ensure compliance with court rules.
  • Conduct interviews with clients or witnesses as directed; gather pertinent information for case development.
  • Assist with project management tasks related to ongoing legal matters or firm initiatives.
  • Provide executive administrative support by handling correspondence, scheduling appointments, and managing attorney calendars efficiently.

Skills

  • Extensive knowledge of estate planning, environmental law, family law, litigation procedures, UCC law, securities law, tribal law & regulations, patent law, workers' compensation law, personal injury law, landlord-tenant law, immigration law, and related practice areas.
  • Proficiency in legal research platforms such as Westlaw and LexisNexis; experience with legal case management software like PCLaw is highly desirable.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
  • Excellent written communication skills for drafting legal documents and correspondence; keen proofreading abilities ensure accuracy in all materials produced.
  • Effective interviewing skills for gathering client information or witness statements accurately.
  • Familiarity with document review processes and electronic filing systems; experience with document management systems such as iManage is preferred.
  • Knowledge of legal administrative practices including data entry, filing procedures (physical and electronic), and document review standards.
  • Ability to handle confidential information discreetly while demonstrating professionalism in all interactions.
  • Strong project management capabilities to coordinate tasks across different practice areas efficiently.
