LEGAL CLERK V/VAC

Basic Qualifications

1.

High school diploma or equivalent

2.

Prior administrative experience

3.

Knowledge of family law and Child Protective Services procedures

4.

Proficiency in typing skills

5.

Experienced with Excel, Microsoft Word, and other computer systems

6.

Organized, with ability to multi-task while performing high quality work in stressful situations

7.

Remain courteous, poised, and gracious to the general public and staff at all times

8.

Proficient spoken and written English

9.

Punctual, trustworthy, honest, and reliable. Be at work from 8am-5pm, 5 days per week

10.

Pass background, criminal history check, and drug test

11.

Be a Notary Public or ability to obtain notary status.

Examples of Job Duties

1.

Works at the direction of the Victims Assistance Coordinator

2.

Responsible for contacting victims by mail as soon as possible after the District Attorney has accepted charges

3.

Assisting victims with case status information and the completion of Victim Impact Statements and Crime Victims

4.

Serves as a liaison between ADAs and victims

5.

Networks and maintains contact with law enforcement and community support groups

6.

Maintains victim contact information in software system

7.

Continues training and education regarding victims’ rights

8.

Is available to answer questions about the criminal justice systems

9.

Secondary duties include (but are not limited to): Answering in-coming telephone lines and directing callers to proper individual/entity

10.

Taking messages for all employees

11.

Greeting and assisting visitors/callers in a cordial and polite manner

12.

Assist other staff as directed by the District Attorney, First Asst. or Office Manger

13.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $37,800.00 - $39,000.00 per year
