Legal Counsel

We are seeking an experienced Legal Counsel to join the team of our client in Dubai.


Our client is a semi-governmental authority playing a critical role in the development and regulation of one of Dubai’s key economic sectors. The organisation is committed to driving innovation and excellence, while ensuring alignment with both local and international legislative and regulatory frameworks.


This role will focus on providing expert legal, regulatory, and governance advice to safeguard the Authority and its affiliates, while supporting the development of robust legislation and policies that align with international best practices.


This is a 12-month contract, with no guarantee for renewal - please only apply if you will be happy with this.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and drafting of legislation and policy frameworks, ensuring alignment with Dubai’s principles and international standards.
  • Oversee and ensure implementation of AML/CFT laws and regulations in line with FATF requirements.
  • Prepare guidelines and provide advice on new federal and local legislation impacting the Authority and its stakeholders.
  • Benchmark legislation and regulations across the UAE and internationally to recommend enhancements to the Authority’s regulatory framework.
  • Provide comprehensive legal and regulatory advice on corporate, civil, and governance matters to minimise legal risk.
  • Manage the preparation and submission of requests for legal opinions from relevant government committees.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law (Master’s degree in Law is an advantage).
  • Minimum of 5 years’ legal experience
  • Strong knowledge of free zone laws, rules, and regulations in the UAE.
  • Fluency in English and Arabic (oral and written).
  • Excellent interpersonal, analytical, and drafting skills.
  • Previous experience in the public sector (real estate, municipality, investment, or government services) or private sector (real estate, airline, free zone, telecom, entertainment & retail).
