Library Director

Job Overview
We are seeking an energetic and visionary Library Director. This pivotal role involves overseeing daily operations, developing innovative programs, managing staff, and ensuring the library meets the evolving needs of our community. As Library Director, you will allow access to information, promote community engagement, and host events that enhance our library’s impact.

Duties

• Provide strategic leadership to guide the library’s mission, vision, and goals, ensuring alignment with community needs.
• Manage day-to-day operations, including staff supervision, budgeting, and facility maintenance to ensure efficient service delivery.
• Oversee cataloging and classification of library materials using integrated library systems (ILS) and databases.
• Develop and implement innovative programs that promote literacy, research skills, and lifelong learning for diverse audiences.
• Write grant proposals to secure funding for new initiatives, technology upgrades, and special projects that expand library services.
• Cultivate strong relationships with community partners and local organizations to foster collaboration and support.
• Ensure exceptional customer service by addressing patron inquiries promptly and maintaining a welcoming environment.

Requirements

• Some management experience in a library or information services environment with demonstrated leadership capabilities.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
• Excellent written communication skills for grant writing, reports, policies, and community outreach materials.
• Demonstrated expertise in project management—planning, executing, monitoring progress—and adapting to changing priorities.
• Exceptional customer service skills with a passion for engaging diverse community members through teaching and research support.
