Library Media Specialist

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
1. Valid N.Y.S. Library Media Specialist certification

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Demonstrated success in the selection, review, acquisition, processing, and maintenance of both digital and print library resources

2. Ability to integrate technology into instruction to enhance student learning
3. Strong understanding of NYS Learning Standards and multiple forms of student assessment
4. Working knowledge of literacy, writing instruction, and information literacy development
5. Evidence of successfully designing and delivering professional development
6. Ability to support students’ social/emotional and academic needs
7. Strong communication and interpersonal skills with students, staff, and families
8. Proven ability to collaborate effectively with administration, faculty, and library staff
9. Experience managing and maintaining a large inventory of school equipment and resources
10. Working knowledge of OPALS, instructional technology tools, and digital media platforms
11. Demonstrated commitment to active participation in the school community
12. Knowledge of and ability to implement the AASL Standards Framework

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Manage and maintain the school library program, including print and digital collections
2. Align library instruction and programming with the AASL Standards Framework to promote inquiry, inclusion, collaboration, curation, exploration, and engagement
3. Collaborate with teachers to design and deliver integrated, standards-based instructional lessons
4. Teach research skills, media literacy, and digital citizenship aligned with AASL competencies
5. Support a welcoming, inclusive, and engaging library environment
6. Maintain accurate records, inventory, and circulation systems
