Library Media Specialist

Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Library Media Specialist to join our team at the District-Wide level. This full-time position is designed for an individual passionate about fostering a love of reading and learning among students at all grade levels. The Library Media Specialist will play a crucial role in developing and managing library resources, integrating technology into learning, and collaborating with educators to enhance the educational experience for all students.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive library program that supports the curriculum and student learning objectives.
  • Curate and maintain a diverse collection of print and digital resources, ensuring accessibility for all students and staff.
  • Collaborate with teachers to integrate information literacy and technology skills into classroom instruction.
  • Provide guidance and support to students in research, reading, and technology use.
  • Conduct library orientation sessions for students and staff to promote library resources and services.
  • Organize and facilitate library programs, events, and activities that promote literacy and a love for reading.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and trends in library science and education to enhance library services.
  • Assess and evaluate library services and resources, making recommendations for improvements as needed.
  • Serve as a resource for faculty and staff regarding information literacy, research strategies, and technology integration.
  • Keep an inventory and manage all materials, including student devices.
  • Collaborate with district administration to develop policies and procedures related to library services.

Requirements
  • Valid certification as a school librarian or library media specialist.
  • Strong knowledge of library management systems and digital resources.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with students, staff, and the community.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing library programs and services.
  • Proficiency in technology integration and information literacy instruction.
  • Ability to assess and evaluate library resources and services effectively.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion within the library environment.
