Lifting Supervisor – Oil & Gas (ADNOC Experience Preferred)
Position Summary
The Lifting Supervisor is responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising all lifting operations on-site in compliance with international standards, ADNOC HSE requirements, and project-specific procedures. The role ensures safe execution of all crane and lifting activities in oil & gas construction, maintenance, shutdowns, and operational projects.
Key Responsibilities
1. Lifting Operations Supervision
- Supervise all critical and routine lifting activities (mobile cranes, tower cranes, forklifts, rigging operations).
- Ensure lifting activities are carried out in accordance with approved Lift Plans and Risk Assessments.
- Verify crane configuration, load charts, and ground conditions before lifting operations.
- Monitor execution of heavy and critical lifts, including tandem lifts and complex lifts.
2. Planning & Coordination
- Review and approve lift plans prepared by Lifting Engineers and Rigging teams.
- Coordinate with Construction, Maintenance, and Operations teams for safe execution of lifting activities.
- Ensure availability and suitability of lifting equipment, accessories, and rigging gear.
3. HSE Compliance
- Enforce strict compliance with ADNOC HSE standards and project safety procedures.
- Conduct Toolbox Talks and pre-lift safety meetings.
- Identify hazards and ensure implementation of control measures.
- Stop unsafe lifting operations immediately when required.
4. Inspection & Certification
- Ensure all cranes, lifting equipment, and accessories are certified and within validity.
- Verify color coding and inspection status of slings, shackles, spreader beams, and rigging gear.
- Coordinate with third-party inspectors for equipment certification.
5. Team Leadership
- Supervise riggers, crane operators, signalmen, and lifting crews.
- Provide guidance, training, and competency checks for lifting personnel.
- Ensure proper communication using standard hand signals and radio procedures.
6. Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain lifting registers, permit-to-work documentation, and lift records.
- Prepare daily/weekly lifting reports and incident/near-miss reports.
- Participate in audits and safety inspections.
Required Qualifications
- Technical Diploma or equivalent (BSc. Mechanical Engineeringpreferred).
- Valid Lifting Supervisor Certification (e.g., LEEA or equivalent preferred).
- Additional certifications such as IOSH / NEBOSH (advantage).
Experience
- Minimum 5 years experience in lifting operations within Oil & Gas industry.
- Strong ADNOC project experience is highly preferred.
- Experience in onshore/offshore construction, shutdowns, and maintenance projects.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of crane operations and lifting engineering principles.
- Excellent understanding of ADNOC HSE standards and permit-to-work systems.
- Ability to interpret lifting plans, load charts, and engineering drawings.
- Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
- High awareness of risk management in high-risk lifting environments.
