Live-In Mandarin-English Nanny & Early Childhood Educator

About Our Family

We are a warm, multicultural Bay Area family with three children under five, looking for a long-term, live-in Bilingual Mandarin Nanny & Educator.

This role combines hands-on nanny responsibilities with early childhood teaching and Mandarin language exposure. We are looking for someone nurturing, reliable, organized, and experienced with babies, toddlers, and preschool-aged children.

Mandarin is very important to our family. The ideal candidate is a native Mandarin speaker with at least conversational English.

Our family travels frequently, both domestically and internationally. For smooth travel and employment, candidates should be a U.S. citizen or U.S. permanent resident and eligible for W-2 employment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide warm, attentive care for three young children under five.
  • Support daily routines including meals, naps, diapering/potty learning, dressing, hygiene, and transitions.
  • Create a natural Mandarin-speaking environment through conversation, songs, books, play, outings, and activities.
  • Plan simple, age-appropriate learning activities that support language, independence, creativity, emotional development, and early academic foundations.
  • Design and deliver age-appropriate bilingual curriculum for children from infancy through early elementary ages.
  • Help manage children’s schedules, supplies, clothing, toys, books, meals/snacks, laundry, and play areas.
  • Coordinate with parents and other caregivers to maintain consistent routines and communication.
  • Support occasional children-related family logistics, activities, events, and travel preparation.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Native Mandarin speaker.
  • Conversational English is required; fluent English is highly preferred.
  • 5+ years of professional experience as a nanny, educator, preschool teacher, or similar role.
  • Strong experience caring for infants, toddlers, and/or preschool-aged children.
  • Comfortable caring for multiple young children.
  • Open to a live-in role in the San Francisco Bay Area.
  • U.S. citizen or U.S. permanent resident; W-2 eligible.
  • Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and comfortable driving in an urban environment.
  • Strong references from prior families, schools, or employers.
  • Comfortable with hands-on childcare duties, including diapers, meals, children’s laundry, tidying children’s areas, and daily routines.
  • Organized, active, discreet, professional, and comfortable around small dogs.
  • Comfortable with occasional domestic or international family travel.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background in Early Childhood Education, Montessori, Reggio Emilia, child development, or elementary education.
  • Experience in a preschool, Montessori school, daycare, elementary school, or other formal educational setting.
  • Prior live-in experience with a private family.
  • Experience caring for multiple young children.
  • CPR certification and pediatric first aid training.
  • Familiarity with Positive Discipline, Conscious Discipline, Montessori methods, or similar child-centered approaches.

Compensation & Benefits

  • $120K–$140K, commensurate with experience, qualifications, and schedule.
