Logistics Officer

Job Summary


The Logistics Officer is responsible for executing and monitoring day-to-day logistics activities to support construction projects and company operations. The role ensures timely movement of materials, equipment, and manpower between suppliers, warehouses, camps, and project sites. The position works closely with project teams, stores, procurement, transport providers, and security to ensure smooth, safe, and compliant logistics operations.


Key Responsibilities


Operational Logistics Support



  • Execute daily logistics activities for transportation and movement of construction materials, equipment, tools, and consumables.

  • Coordinate vehicle allocation, driver schedules, and transport arrangements based on site and project requirements.

  • Monitor deliveries, collections, and inter-site transfers to ensure timely execution.

  • Support urgent and last-minute logistics requests to avoid project delays.


Site & Project Coordination



  • Coordinate with site engineers, storekeepers, and supervisors regarding delivery schedules, offloading arrangements, and site access.

  • Ensure proper sequencing of material deliveries in line with site readiness and storage capacity.

  • Support mobilization and demobilization of equipment, tools, and manpower between sites, camps, and warehouses.

  • Liaise with security and site administration teams for gate passes, vehicle entry, and movement approvals.


Documentation & Records



  • Prepare, verify, and maintain logistics documentation including delivery notes, gate passes, movement requests, and transport logs.

  • Ensure all logistics records are accurate, complete, and properly filed for audit and tracking purposes.

  • Track vehicle movements, fuel usage, and trip details as per company procedures.


Vendor & Transport Coordination



  • Coordinate with transporters, drivers, and logistics service providers to ensure timely and safe transportation.

  • Follow up on delays, damages, or shortages and report issues to the Logistics Coordinator / Manager.

  • Support monitoring of transporter performance and compliance with safety and contractual requirements.


Safety & Compliance



  • Ensure logistics activities comply with company HSE policies and site safety requirements.

  • Verify that vehicles, drivers, and equipment meet safety, certification, and permit requirements.

  • Support accident or incident reporting related to logistics and transportation activities.


Reporting & Support



  • Prepare daily and weekly logistics status reports, including deliveries, movements, and pending actions.

  • Highlight operational issues, risks, and improvement opportunities to supervisors.

  • Support internal audits, inspections, and management reviews related to logistics operations.


Required Qualifications & Competencies



  • Diploma / Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or a related field.

  • 5+ years of experience in logistics operations, preferably within a building construction.

  • Good understanding of construction logistics, material movement, and site coordination.

  • Familiarity with transport documentation, delivery procedures, and site access controls.

  • Basic proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel, and logistics tracking systems.

  • Strong coordination, follow-up, and organizational skills.

  • Good communication skills and ability to work with multiple stakeholders.

  • Ability to work under pressure and manage changing site priorities.

  • Practical, hands-on approach with strong problem-solving skills.
