Cleveland Bridge Steel is seeking an experienced and technically proficient Welding Engineering to lead welding operations across our fabrication projects, including pressure vessels, structural steel, modular assemblies, piping systems, pipe modules, and pipe racks. This leadership role is essential to ensuring welding quality, compliance, and productivity across all phases of fabrication.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development, qualification, and approval of welding procedures (WPS/PQR) in accordance with ASME, AWS, API, and client specifications
- Manage and mentor welding engineers, inspectors, and welding personnel across multiple fabrication streams
- Oversee welder qualification and certification programs, ensuring compliance with international standards and project requirements
- Provide expert guidance on welding techniques, metallurgy, and material compatibility for carbon steel, stainless steel, and alloy systems
- Review fabrication drawings and ensure welding specifications are accurately implemented on the shop floor
- Monitor welding performance, defect rates, and consumable usage to drive efficiency and reduce rework
- Collaborate with QA/QC, production, and project teams to resolve welding-related issues and implement corrective actions
- Interface with clients and third-party inspectors to ensure welding deliverables meet contractual and regulatory standards
- Support planning and estimation teams with welding scope definition, man-hour calculations, and technical input
- Promote a safety-first culture and ensure compliance with HSE standards in all welding activities
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Welding Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Metallurgy
- Minimum 6-10 years of experience in welding engineering, with at least 3–5 years in a managerial role within heavy steel fabrication or EPC environments
- Strong knowledge of welding codes and standards (ASME, AWS, API)
- Proven experience in pressure vessel, structural steel, and piping fabrication
- Certification in CSWIP 3.2, AWS-CWI, or equivalent is highly preferred
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Familiarity with ERP systems and welding documentation platforms
