Fairview is seeking a skilled Maintenance Engineer to keep things running smoothly at Fairview Lakes Hospital in Wyoming, MN. In this role, you’re the behind-the-scenes problem solver who ensures our hospital stays safe, comfortable, and fully operational for patients, staff, and visitors. From HVAC and boilers to electrical systems and life-safety equipment, you’ll play a critical part in maintaining the environment that supports exceptional care.
This is a full-time evening position (3:00 p.m.–11:30 p.m.), working 80 hours per pay period, with every 6th weekend on call. You’ll troubleshoot, repair, and perform preventive maintenance across mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and medical gas systems—while responding confidently to emergencies and minimizing downtime. Responsibilities

Responsible for repairing and maintaining equipment and systems within assigned locations in a safe, efficient manner.

Repairs and maintains various pieces of mechanical and electrical equipment following accepted practices and procedures. These systems include plumbing, controls, HVAC refrigeration and electrical/emergency power.

Operate and maintain steam and hot water heating boilers, including adequate chemical control, seasonal maintenance, and safety.

Repairs and maintains patient care equipment to provide a safe environment for patients and comply with the standards of the various regulatory agencies

Repairs, maintains, adjusts, and calibrates miscellaneous portable equipment brought to the shop for repair, including but not limited to wheelchairs, carts, equipment, furniture etc.

Demonstrates the ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics and technical manuals to trouble-shoot and isolate problems

Gains a thorough working knowledge of the major systems within the assigned locations, and can operate them safely and efficiently and troubleshoot problems so they can be resolved with a minimum of down time and distribution of service

Performs periodic preventive maintenance on fans, motors, belts, HVAC systems, steam, water, sewer, air and vacuum, fire suppression, oxygen, and other medical gases.

Completes and turns in required documentation i.e. service requests, work logs, check lists and other documentation.

Performs all duties in a safe, efficient manner.

Demonstrates ability to provide care or service adjusting approaches to reflect developmental level and cultural differences of population served.

Rotate call for facility emergencies. Triage calls to determine necessity for immediate action. Respond to site and resolve.

Respond to emergency, security, and disaster situations in compliance with policies and procedures.

Understand and follow safety procedures specifically related to job duties (i.e. blood-borne pathogens, OSHA, Eye protection).
Required Qualifications
Experience

5 years experience in operation and maintenance in commercial, industrial, or institutional environment.
Skills
Licensure
-
Lakes, Northland, Maple Grove, UMMC-East Bank and Midway: State of Minnesota 2nd Class C Engineer License (2C) or higher
Preferred Qualifications
-
Graduate of an accredited trade school in refrigeration, electricity, building maintenance or another appropriate course
Qualifications:
$33.24- $46.92 Hourly
