Job description:
A Hotel Maintenance Engineer is responsible for ensuring that all hotel facilities, equipment, and systems are properly maintained and functioning to provide a safe and comfortable environment for guests. The role includes performing routine inspections and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Routine Inspections and Maintenance:
- Perform regular inspections of hotel facilities, including guest rooms, public areas, and mechanical systems.
- Identify and repair faults in plumbing, electrical systems, HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning), lighting, and other equipment.
- Ensure that all maintenance activities comply with health and safety standards.
- Repairs and Troubleshooting:
- Address emergency maintenance requests promptly.
- Repair broken or malfunctioning equipment, appliances, and systems.
- Troubleshoot problems with heating, cooling, and water systems, among other mechanical issues.
- Equipment and System Upkeep:
- Maintain hotel equipment, such as elevators, boilers, and HVAC systems, to ensure they are functioning optimally.
- Schedule and oversee preventive maintenance of key systems and machinery.
- Ensure compliance with local regulations and hotel policies.
- Guest Service:
- Respond to guest maintenance requests and resolve issues efficiently to minimize inconvenience.
- Ensure that maintenance work does not disturb the guest experience.
- Inventory Management:
- Maintain stock of necessary repair tools, spare parts, and supplies.
- Order replacement parts as needed and manage inventory.
- Record Keeping:
- Keep records of completed maintenance work and ongoing projects.
- Ensure all work orders and tasks are documented and filed for future reference.
- Team Coordination:
- Assist other maintenance staff when required.
- Train and guide other team members in the maintenance department.
- Compliance and Safety:
- Adhere to all safety guidelines and hotel procedures, including emergency response protocols.
- Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (technical certifications may be preferred).
- Previous experience in hotel maintenance or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC systems, and general building maintenance.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues efficiently.
- Good physical condition, with the ability to handle manual labor.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently.

Skills:
- Technical knowledge of building systems and equipment.
- Good communication skills to interact with guests and team members.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
- Basic computer skills for maintenance tracking and inventory management.
