Maintenance Engineer

Job description:

A Hotel Maintenance Engineer is responsible for ensuring that all hotel facilities, equipment, and systems are properly maintained and functioning to provide a safe and comfortable environment for guests. The role includes performing routine inspections and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Routine Inspections and Maintenance:
  • Perform regular inspections of hotel facilities, including guest rooms, public areas, and mechanical systems.
  • Identify and repair faults in plumbing, electrical systems, HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning), lighting, and other equipment.
  • Ensure that all maintenance activities comply with health and safety standards.
  • Repairs and Troubleshooting:
  • Address emergency maintenance requests promptly.
  • Repair broken or malfunctioning equipment, appliances, and systems.
  • Troubleshoot problems with heating, cooling, and water systems, among other mechanical issues.
  • Equipment and System Upkeep:
  • Maintain hotel equipment, such as elevators, boilers, and HVAC systems, to ensure they are functioning optimally.
  • Schedule and oversee preventive maintenance of key systems and machinery.
  • Ensure compliance with local regulations and hotel policies.
  • Guest Service:
  • Respond to guest maintenance requests and resolve issues efficiently to minimize inconvenience.
  • Ensure that maintenance work does not disturb the guest experience.
  • Inventory Management:
  • Maintain stock of necessary repair tools, spare parts, and supplies.
  • Order replacement parts as needed and manage inventory.
  • Record Keeping:
  • Keep records of completed maintenance work and ongoing projects.
  • Ensure all work orders and tasks are documented and filed for future reference.
  • Team Coordination:
  • Assist other maintenance staff when required.
  • Train and guide other team members in the maintenance department.
  • Compliance and Safety:
  • Adhere to all safety guidelines and hotel procedures, including emergency response protocols.
  • Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent (technical certifications may be preferred).
  • Previous experience in hotel maintenance or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC systems, and general building maintenance.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues efficiently.
  • Good physical condition, with the ability to handle manual labor.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently.

  • P98 Fuel-Oil Piping and Storage System.
  • S12 Supervision of Sprinkler Systems (Citywide).
  • S13 Supervision of Standpipe System (Citywide).

Skills:

  • Technical knowledge of building systems and equipment.
  • Good communication skills to interact with guests and team members.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
  • Basic computer skills for maintenance tracking and inventory management.

In this role, the Hotel Maintenance Engineer plays a critical part in keeping the property running smoothly and ensuring guests have an enjoyable stay.
