Maintenance Engineer - Mechanical

Job Summary:

The Mechanical Building Maintenance Engineer is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical systems within buildings and facilities. These systems may include HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning), plumbing, elevators, pumps, fire protection, and other building services equipment. The engineer ensures these systems operate efficiently, safely, and in compliance with applicable codes and standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance of mechanical systems including HVAC, plumbing, pumps, motors, and compressed air systems.
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical failures to minimize downtime and ensure building systems are running efficiently.
• Conduct routine inspections of mechanical equipment and systems to identify issues and recommend improvements.
• Monitor and maintain HVAC controls and Building Management Systems (BMS).
• Maintain detailed maintenance logs, service records, and documentation for all mechanical systems.
• Supervise or coordinate with contractors and service providers for specialized maintenance or repairs.
• Ensure mechanical systems comply with safety regulations, building codes, and environmental standards.
• Provide support for renovations, fit-outs, or new installations involving mechanical systems.
• Respond to emergency maintenance calls and system breakdowns.
• Assist in budgeting and procurement of parts and services related to mechanical maintenance.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• 6+ years of experience in mechanical maintenance, preferably in building or facilities management
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, fire fighting systems, and mechanical building equipment.
• Understanding of local mechanical codes, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
