Job summary
We are seeking an experienced Processing Maintenance Manager to lead and oversee all maintenance activities within our processing operations. This role requires strong leadership, deep technical knowledge of manufacturing maintenance, and a commitment to ensuring the reliability, safety, and efficiency of production equipment.
The Processing Maintenance Manager will lead a team of maintenance technicians while ensuring the effective execution of preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs. This role will focus on improving equipment reliability, minimizing downtime, and supporting operational performance in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
This position works closely with production, engineering, quality, and operations teams to ensure equipment performance supports production goals and product quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of maintenance technicians, providing guidance, technical support, and performance feedback.
- Establish clear expectations, performance goals, and accountability standards for the maintenance team.
- Promote a culture focused on safety, reliability, ownership, and continuous improvement.
- Identify training needs and support technical development of maintenance personnel.
- Oversee maintenance and repair of processing equipment including motors, pumps, valves, presses, separators, conveyors, heat exchangers, instrumentation, and other production machinery.
- Ensure equipment operates safely and efficiently while minimizing unplanned downtime.
- Coordinate and prioritize maintenance activities to support production schedules.
- Develop and manage preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
- Utilize condition monitoring and data-driven maintenance practices to identify potential failures.
- Lead troubleshooting efforts to diagnose equipment failures and operational issues.
- Apply structured problem-solving tools such as Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA).
- Work cross-functionally with engineering, operations, and quality teams to implement corrective actions.
- Ensure all maintenance activities follow safety policies and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct safety audits and risk assessments within maintenance areas.
- Ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and food safety standards.
- Develop and manage maintenance budgets including labor, materials, spare parts, and contracted services.
- Monitor maintenance spending while maintaining equipment reliability.
- Support capital projects and equipment upgrades when needed.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance work orders, inspections, and equipment documentation.
- Utilize a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to track maintenance activities and equipment history.
- Use maintenance metrics and data to improve equipment reliability and operational performance.
- Identify opportunities to increase uptime, improve maintenance processes, and reduce operating costs.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Maintenance Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Industrial Technology, Chemical Engineering, or a related field preferred (equivalent experience will be considered).
- Minimum 5–7 years of leadership or supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience managing maintenance operations in food manufacturing or processing environments preferred.
- Strong knowledge of industrial processing equipment and mechanical systems.
- Proven leadership and team development skills.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational abilities.
- Analytical mindset with strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Experience using CMMS systems and maintenance software tools.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Shift: Monday through Friday
