The State of New Hampshire, Department of Health and Human Services, Facilities Maintenance & Office Services has a full-time vacancy for Maintenance Mechanic.
Summary:
To provide skilled and general maintenance, repair work, and facilities support to the Facilities Maintenance and Office Services Unit by supporting the various office requests of approximately 35 DHHS managed facilities statewide. This position reports to the Assistant Administrator, Facilities Maintenance and Office Services.
YOUR EXPERIENCE COUNTS:
Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience and/or each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Experience:
Equivalent combination of 2 years of education and experience after completion of high school.
License/Certification
: Valid driver’s license

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Completion of an apprenticeship in one of the skilled trades or experience in general maintenance and repair work associated with one or more of the following areas: carpentry, electricity, painting, plumbing, masonry, sheet metal work, welding, auto repair or related trade experience is required.

Preference given to applicants with experience in all facets of furniture installation, refurbishment and reconfiguration.
AFTER-HIRE REQUIREMENTS:
Must successfully complete a Defensive Driving course as approved by the New Hampshire Safety Council within the first six (6) months of employment.

When applicable, the work of an employee in trainee status in this position shall be overseen by a fully qualified individual. Responsibilities:
Participates in projects at the request of the Assistant Administrator or Director, including partial or full facility relocations.
Provides labor and skill necessary for all facets of furniture and office equipment installation, refurbishment, and reconfiguration. Including, office moves and reconfigurations, furniture disassembly, removal of excess systems and furnishings, relocate and install existing furnishings to a new location.
Performs technical skilled work in carpentry, electronics or painting as required.
Operates, maintains and performs repairs to various equipment such as power and hand tools, to ensure safe and efficient equipment operation.
Installation of shelving units, bulletin or white boards, file cabinets, or other related fixtures or equipment.
Collaborates with appropriate Unit staff to support the regulations and policies relative to building and ADA code compliance of the Department’s leased facilities. Participates in ADA assessments and participates in ADA improvements with the lessor of district and itinerant office facilities, to include general maintenance to correct code deficiencies (e.g. accessible parking sign installation or adjustments). Provides ad-hoc periodic inspections of the leased facilities per request to ensure compliance with ADA codes.
Coordinates with the Safety & Wellness Specialist for the workstation modifications for approved ADA accommodations, to include the installation of height adjustable tables, and furniture alterations.
Maintains warehouse storage by ensuring warehouse inventory and supplies are neat and organized. Receives, stores, distributes, and delivers furniture and equipment to the DHHS managed facilities through the utilization and management of existing warehouse inventory.
Gathers and reports changes in the DHHS Warehouse inventory, including the relocation, disposal and items sent to White Farm as surplus by providing ad-hoc reporting of existing inventory per request.
Coordinates with the Asset and Inventory Administrator for the disposal of furniture and office equipment for the proper recording of items being sent to surplus state property to relieve the Department’s inventory.
Provides back-up services to the Logistics team as needed, including quarterly District Office deliveries, collection of shredding, distribution of paper products or office deliveries requests and distributing box moves.
