Maintenance Technician

Position Summary: The Hotel Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining the hotel property in a safe, attractive, and fully operational condition. This position performs preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of building systems and equipment while ensuring compliance with safety standards, brand standards, and local regulations. Daily tasks will vary based on need, but will frequently include repairs, plumbing, electrical, fire detection and protection, aesthetic work requiring cleaning, painting and some carpentry, tending to the facility’s machinery and HVAC.

The maintenance technician supports guest satisfaction by responding promptly and professionally to maintenance requests.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

· Perform routine maintenance inspections of key hotel facilities and equipment such as HVAC, fire detection and protection system, elevators, ice machines, water heaters, washing and drying machines and swimming pool/Jacuzzi.

· Promptly acknowledge and respond to concerns and requests by guests.

· Daily inspection of arrival or available rooms to correct any maintenance issues.

· Perform routine preventive maintenance on building and guest rooms.

· Repair or replace any broken or leaking plumbing, plumbing fixtures, fix all drain problems.

· Repair furniture, fixtures, doors, locks and windows.

· Troubleshoot and repair minor electrical problems such as replace outlets, switches, breakers and lighting fixtures.

· Install and maintain room appliances like TV, oven, microwave, refrigerators.

· Inspect & maintain the hotel’s HVAC units, ventilation systems, clean and replace filters and routinely program room thermostats.

· Maintain communication systems like telephones, internet services and the business center computers.

· Maintain ice machines, kitchen/restaurant equipment, and laundry equipment.

· Maintain swimming pool and jacuzzi systems, including testing.

· Maintain elevators (in coordination with certified vendors).

· Perform necessary painting tasks, patch-up work, and carpentry.

· Complete assigned work orders and initiate new ones when needed.

· Complete daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance checklists.

· Assist in ensuring grounds and common areas are free of trash and debris.

· Perform roof leak repairs or waterproofing as needed.

· Assist in renovations and new projects as may be required.

· Maintain common areas, hallways, lobbies, stairwells, and exterior spaces.

· Maintain tools, equipment and inventory.

· Keep all mechanical, electrical, control rooms and maintenance shop in a neat and orderly condition.

· Collaborate, coordinate, and communicate with other departments to work efficiently.

· May be assigned other tasks and responsibilities and as required.

Skills and Qualifications:

· Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

· Working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical systems.

· Carpentry ability to handle basic repairs.

· Painting and patch up work.

· Strong attention to detail.

· Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.

· Professional and courteous guest service skills.

· Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

· Team-oriented mindset.

Requirements:

  • Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods of time.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, kneel, squat, push and pull.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 75 pounds.
  • Schedule flexibility includes weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment safely.

Pay: $23.00 - $25.00 per hour
