Position Overview
The Manager – HR Generalist (Compliance Focus) will play a pivotal role in ensuring organizational compliance with statutory, legal, and internal HR policies while managing core HR operations. This role combines a strong understanding of employment law and compliance governance with hands-on generalist responsibilities in employee life cycle management, HR process excellence, and stakeholder partnership.
Key Responsibilities
1. Statutory & Legal Compliance

Ensure adherence to all applicable labor laws and employment regulations (Shops & Establishment Act, Payment of Wages, Bonus, Gratuity, PF, ESI, POSH, etc.).

Monitor, maintain, and update compliance trackers, registers, and documentation as per statutory timelines.

Liaise with external consultants, auditors, and government authorities for compliance submissions and inspections.

Ensure timely filing of returns and renewals of licenses, registrations, and other statutory mandates.

Partner with Legal and Finance teams to ensure compliance with vendor contracts, employee benefits, and audit requirements.

Conduct periodic internal compliance audits to ensure zero non-conformities.
2. Policy Governance & Audit Preparedness
-
Maintain and update HR policies to reflect current legal requirements and organizational standards.

Support internal and external HR audits, coordinate documentation and responses.

Drive employee awareness on compliance policies, including POSH, Code of Conduct, and workplace ethics.

Participate in ISO / ISMS / CSR / ESG-related compliance reviews as applicable.
3. HR Operations & Employee Lifecycle Management

Oversee end-to-end employee lifecycle processes including onboarding, confirmation, transfers, and exit formalities.

Manage HR systems and records ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and audit-readiness.

Support payroll inputs and statutory deduction validation in coordination with Finance/Payroll vendors.

Facilitate full & final settlements in line with compliance norms.
4. Employee Relations & Communication

Provide guidance to employees and managers on company policies and labor regulations.

Support resolution of employee queries and grievances related to policy interpretation or statutory benefits.

Drive communication and awareness programs on HR policies and compliance obligations.
5. HR Reporting & Continuous Improvement

Generate periodic compliance and HR operations reports for management review.

Identify process improvement opportunities to strengthen governance, efficiency, and risk mitigation.

Maintain up-to-date knowledge on changing employment laws and propose necessary policy or process updates.
Qualifications & Experience
-
Education: LLB and MBA / PGDM in Human Resources or equivalent.
-
Experience: 15–18 years of progressive HR experience, with at least 3–5 years handling compliance and generalist responsibilities.

Preferred Background: Experience in IT / ITES / Captive / Consulting environment; exposure to multi-location or group company compliance coordination.
