Manager - Legal

OLX is seeking a skilled professional to join its in-house legal team as Manager - Legal. This role will be responsible for providing expert legal support in all areas of the business, ensuring corporate compliance with regulatory requirements applicable to the e-commerce sector, managing legal risks, implementing internal company policies, and enabling smooth business operations through effective contract management, advisory, and policy development.

The ideal candidate will have strong commercial acumen, experience in fast-paced digital marketplaces, and a collaborative approach to partnering with cross-functional teams.


Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to business teams, providing practical legal advice to enable decision-making in line with legal and regulatory frameworks, and on matters related to e-commerce operations, digital transactions, consumer protection, intellectual property and data privacy.
  • Identify and mitigate legal and regulatory risks across business functions, working closely with leadership and relevant teams to develop mitigation strategies.
  • Draft, negotiate and review a wide range of commercial agreements, including vendor agreements, marketing and partnership contracts, technology service agreements, and platform-related terms of service.
  • Provide advice on business strategy, including legal anaylsis on new business initiatives, product launches and platform features ensuring compliance with applicable laws and mitigation of risk.
  • Monitor and advise on changes in laws and regulations affecting e-commerce, technology, consumer protection, data privacy, competition, and advertising standards.
  • Understand commercial terms and translate into legally sound agreements, balancing risk and business objectives.
  • Manage the legal repository, including contract lifecycle management with timely tracking of obligations, renewals and related deadlines.
  • Identify and support the development and improvement of business processes, internal policies and frameworks aligned with best industry practices.
  • Assist in resolving legal disputes, manage external counsel where needed, and provide recommendations for dispute resolution.


Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Education: Bachelor’s in law / LLB required, Master's preferred
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of relevant legal experience, with at least 1 year of in-house experience
  • Strong understanding of contract law, commercial transactions, consumer protection laws, intellectual property, data privacy regulations, and technology contracts.
  • Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally with product, marketing, sales, operations, and compliance teams in a fast-paced, digital environment.
  • Excellent legal drafting, verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and provide pragmatic solutions under pressure
  • Team player with a collaborative mindset and a strong sense of ownership
